CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG
Ganyu's Elemental Burst should not be used in most melt teams, as it can lead to Charged Attacks not being able to trigger melt.
This is because Ganyu's Elemental Burst can overwrite the Pyro element applied by other characters, preventing the melt reaction from occurring.
To avoid this issue, teams using Ganyu for melt should consider alternative strategies, such as:
- Using Ganyu as a sub-DPS and relying on other characters for melt reactions
- Building Ganyu with high EM to increase the chances of triggering melt with her Normal Attacks
- Using characters with high ER to ensure consistent Pyro application and melt reactions
By taking these precautions, teams can minimize the risks associated with Ganyu's Elemental Burst and optimize their melt reactions.

CRIT DMG
When building with the Blizzard Strayer (4-piece set), it is recommended to aim for a 45% Crit Rate or slightly below, rather than exceeding this threshold.
This allows for an optimal balance between Crit Rate and other stats, such as Elemental Mastery (EM) or Energy Recharge (ER).
To achieve this, consider the following:
- Invest in Crit Rate substats on your character's gear, such as Sands and Goblet artifacts.
- Choose a weapon with a high base Attack stat and Crit Rate substat.
- Balance your Elemental Mastery (EM) and Energy Recharge (ER) to maintain a stable Elemental Burst rotation.

CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG
When using the Blizzard Strayer (4) set, Ganyu reaches max Crit Rate with a base of 45% on her Charged attacks and a base of 65% on her Elemental Burst. Anything between 45% and 55% Crit Rate is a nice point to be at without sacrificing too much damage on either end.
For optimal damage output, it's essential to balance Crit Rate and damage stats, considering the 45% and 65% bases for Charged attacks and Elemental Burst, respectively.
To achieve this balance, consider the following:
- Keep Crit Rate between 45% and 55% for a balance between Charged attacks and Elemental Burst damage.
- Aim for a balance that works with your playstyle and Ganyu's overall damage output.
MELT DPS
Ganyu's Level 2 Charged Shot applies two instances Cryo as they do not share the same ICD, which allows you to trigger Melt reaction twice for both damage instances. Charged Attack will be the majority of her damage output while neglecting her Skill/Burst damage contribution for most scenarios.
Regarding Weapon Choices:
- Amos' Bow: Ganyu's Level 2 Charge Shot Bloom extends arrow flight duration allowing her to get 3 stacks of Amos' Bow passive even on point blank range.
- Flower-Wreathed Feathers: This weapon scales incredibly well with refinements. At R5, this weapon performs better than The First Great Magic.
- Hamayumi: Due to its passive, this weapon prefers Wanderer's Troupe (4) instead. At higher refinements, Hamayumi can outperform Thundering Pulse and Skyward Harp.
- Scion of the Blazing Sun: At R5, this weapon can outperform Thundering Pulse and Skyward Harp.
- Prototype Crescent: At higher refinement levels with good uptime on its passive, it can potentially be on par with Skyward Harp. However, do bear in mind that not all enemies have weak spots that you can headshot, which does affect its performance significantly.
Regarding Artifact Sets:
- Shimenawa's Reminiscence (4) and Wanderer's Troupe (4): If you are able to squeeze 5 Charged Attacks during the 10 second buff duration, Shimenawa's Reminiscence (4) pulls ahead of Wanderer's Troupe (4). Due to it being very difficult to do, Wanderer's Troupe (4) will usually end up dealing more damage for most players.
- Unfinished Reverie: If Ganyu is played in a team with consistent burn uptime, this set performs better than Wanderer's Troupe (4) and Shimenawa's Reminiscence (4).
Regarding Talent Priority: Ganyu's Elemental Burst is low priority on a Melt Build since most of the times, you don't cast her burst at all so that it doesn't steal your Melt reaction.
FREEZE DPS
Ganyu's burst is the main damage source in Freeze teams, therefore charged attacks should only be used when the time between using the teams skills and bursts allows it. If running Shenhe alongside Ganyu, weapons with Crit stats and/or DMG% are slightly favored.
Regarding Weapon Choices:
- Polar Star: This weapon is much harder to optimize with, due to having a very high Crit Rate stat.
- Amos' Bow: In quickswap heavy rotations (Ganyu Mona Venti Diona) where you usually don't do a lot of Charged Shots, this weapon performs worse than the other 5 star options listed.
- Song of Stillness: Ranking assumed Ganyu receives healing before casting her Elemental Burst.
- Prototype Crescent: Requires a weak spot hit before casting Ganyu's Elemental Burst to utilize the passive fully. At R5, this weapon performs close to Skyward Harp.
- Mouun's Moon: This weapon's exact performance varies with the team's total burst cost. At R5, this weapon performs similar to Thundering Pulse.
Regarding Artifact Sets:
- Marechaussee Hunter (4): This set should only be used with Furina on the team and performs only slightly worse than Blizzard Strayer (4).
MONO CRYO DPS
Mono Cryo Ganyu teams utilize Blizzard Strayer (4) and Cryo Resonance while having Ganyu on field dealing damage through both her Charged Attacks and Elemental Burst.
Regarding Weapon Choices:
- Amos' Bow: If Shenhe is present on the team, this weapon performs worse than Skyward Harp.
- Flower-Wreathed Feathers: At R5, this weapon performs similar to Prototype Crescent R5.
- Prototype Crescent: Requires a weak spot hit before casting Ganyu's Elemental Burst to utilize the passive fully. At R5, this weapon performs slightly better (without Shenhe) or slightly worse (with Shenhe) than Skyward Harp.
- Mouun's Moon: This weapon's exact performance varies with the team's total burst cost. Performs better than similar options with Shenhe present on the team.
- Song of Stillness: Ranking assumed Ganyu receives healing before casting her Elemental Burst.
- Flower-Wreathed Feathers: This weapon scales incredibly well with refinements. At R5, this weapon performs closer to Amos' Bow.
