For beginners who don't have any limited 4-Star or 5-Star characters yet, Mortenax Blade can be used as your debuffer or DPS in the team. March 7th (The Hunt) increases Mortenax Blade's SPD while dealing good damage of her own. Asta increases the party's SPD and ATK. Lynx will be the team's sustain unit.
Mortenax Blade Nihility Team
Mortenax Blade can also be used in a mostly Nihility team, with Acheron as the main DPS. You can run the team either sustainless or with a sustain character, as both compositions are viable. Sustainless teams are better with Welt since he can delay enemies.
Mortenax Blade Follow-Up ATK Team
Mortenax Blade can also be used in a Follow-UP ATK team, with Ashveil as the main DPS. Since his additional Skill from his Talent counts as a Follow-Up ATK, he will benefit from all the buffs a Follow-Up ATK team can provide.
Skills

Deals Fire DMG equal to #1[i]% of Mortenax Blade's Max HP to one designated enemy, and causes the target to enter the Taunt state for 1 turn.

Consumes HP equal to #4[f1]% of Mortenax Blade's Max HP and deals Fire DMG equal to #1[i]% of Mortenax Blade's Max HP to all enemies, and additionally deals #2[i] instance(s) of DMG, with each instance dealing Fire DMG equal to #3[f1]% of Mortenax Blade's Max HP to one random enemy. If the current HP is insufficient, Mortenax Blade's current HP will be reduced to 1 when he uses Skill. While not in the "Infinite Fury" state or when the current HP is 1 or lower, Mortenax Blade cannot use his Skill. Using Skill does not consume Skill Points.

Inflicts "Balefire Bind" on all enemies. Enemy targets in the "Balefire Bind" state have their DEF reduced by #7[f1]% and the DMG they receive increases by #4[f1]%, lasting for #8[i] turn(s). Then, consumes HP equal to #1[i]% of Mortenax Blade's Max HP to deploy a Zone. While the Zone is active, Mortenax Blade enters the "Infinite Fury" state. During the "Infinite Fury" state, increases CRIT Rate by #2[i]%, increases CRIT DMG by #3[f1]%, enhances Basic ATK, unlocks Skill, and gains a new Ultimate "Tenax Per Ignem." When receiving a killing blow, this unit will not be knocked down, but will dispel the Zone, exit the "Infinite Fury" state, and restore HP equal to #6[i]% of this unit's Max HP. When gaining the "Infinite Fury" state, a corresponding countdown appears on the Action Order. The countdown has a fixed SPD of #5[i]. At the start of the countdown's turn, dispels the Zone and exits the "Infinite Fury" state. If the current HP is insufficient, Mortenax Blade's current HP will be reduced to 1 when he uses this ability.
An ally will be incapacitated once their HP is reduced to 0.

While the Zone is active, after each attack an ally target uses on an enemy, inflicts the "Balefire Bind" state on the corresponding enemy target and grants 1 Charge to Mortenax Blade. When Charge reaches #1[i] points and the current HP is more than 1, consumes #1[i] Charge, regenerates #2[f1] Energy, and enables Mortenax Blade to use Skill 1 extra time. This extra Skill use is considered as Follow-Up ATK.
