Zenless Zone Zero’s pinball event is real — here are the dates, rewards, and unlock requirements

If you’ve gotten used to Zenless Zone Zero throwing you into combat scenarios, the next limited-time event might catch you off guard. Instead of another beat-em-up gauntlet, the game is pivoting to pinball — and yes, it’s as weird as it sounds.

The Pinball Knight event runs from September 10, 2026 (10:00 server time) through October 19, 2026 (03:59 server time). That’s about five and a half weeks, which is generous for a temporary event. The rewards include Polychromes, which are always the main draw, but also some exclusive cosmetic items that won’t be available again once the event wraps up.

What you need to unlock the pinball event

To get in, your account needs to be at Inter-Knot Level 20, and you must have finished Main Story Chapter 1 — Intermission. These are modest requirements. The event is deliberately aimed at players who are still working through early- to mid-game content, so there is no endgame gear check here. If you haven’t hit Level 20 yet, focus on story quests and daily commissions. You have more than a month, but it’s better to clear the bar early.

Once unlocked, travel to Chic Bootique and find Kahkiboo. He’ll explain that he’s been tinkering with a pinball machine as part of a research project, and you’ll be working with the Pinball Knight to chase something called “true aesthetics.” The premise is odd on purpose — Zenless Zone Zero has always leaned into whimsy, and this event is no different.

How the pinball mode works

The event is structured around four Mission Mode stages that unlock one at a time, each with a different theme. In each stage, you pick from a selection of pinballs and use the table’s special mechanisms to trigger unique skills. The objective is to beat enemies while protecting your base. It plays like a cross between a pinball table and a tower defense mode — fast movement with strategic decisions about which bumpers and triggers to hit.

After you clear a Mission Mode stage, its Challenge Mode version unlocks. Challenge Mode adds modifier bonuses that boost your abilities, but the enemies are harder and hit harder. You don’t have to clear every Challenge Mode stage to get the main rewards, but if you want extra resources, they’re worth attempting.

Completing event commissions and clearing stages earns you these exclusive Proxy accessories:

  • Meow Top Hat
  • Tartan Fairytale
  • Silvermoon Ornament and Whispered Star Wishes
  • Pale Night Messenger and Adventure Journal

Beyond the cosmetics, you will also get Hamster Cage Passes, Polychromes, and upgrade materials. Polychromes are the game’s premium currency — always useful whether you’re saving for a banner or refilling energy. Hamster Cage Passes are used to upgrade character skills, so they are directly helpful for progression. None of these rewards are temporary; once you earn them, they stay in your account permanently.

What new players should know

If you are new to Zenless Zone Zero, do not stress about beating every Challenge Mode stage immediately. The smarter play is to clear all four Mission Mode stages first, collect the headline rewards, and then circle back to Challenge Mode if you have time. The event environment is low-stakes — there is no penalty for failing, and it is a good place to test characters and team compositions you are still learning.

Also, keep an eye on your Inter-Knot level. If you are below 20, you cannot see the event at all, no matter how much time remains. The window is long, but it closes on October 19. Mark it.

What happens after the event ends

The Pinball Knight event itself is temporary. When the timer hits zero, the pinball machine and its stages disappear from the game. The exclusive accessories you earned, however, stay in your inventory permanently. If you care about collection completion, make sure you grab everything before the deadline. There is no second chance once the event leaves — Zenless Zone Zero has not re-run limited cosmetics in the past, and there is no reason to expect that to change here.
