Tangtang sits at the very top of the tier list as a Cryo caster who pairs dependable AoE damage with a powerful Arts Susceptibility debuff and wide-area crowd control. Her kit drops into almost any Arts-focused lineup, so she works both as an off-damage contributor and as the debuffer that raises the whole team's output.
The early game build keeps things simple: pour Agility into Tangtang so her Whirlpool and Waterspout damage holds up while she levels. Opus: The Living is easy to acquire and adds Arts damage on top of the Agility it provides, making it the natural mid-progression weapon. Roving MSGR is used almost entirely for its large flat Agility bonus, which outperforms other accessible sets even though its set effect leans toward Physical DMG rather than her Cryo kit. This setup does not yet provide the team-wide Arts Susceptibility amplification that the endgame weapon brings, but it keeps her personal contribution respectable while you farm toward the better configuration.
Insights
Core Mechanics
- Her Combo Skill fires when she applies Cryo Infliction or lands Arts Burst DMG, leaving a Whirlpool on the field for later use.
- The Battle Skill consumes nearby Whirlpools and turns them into Waterspouts; each one adds Cryo Infliction plus a damage-over-time effect, while creating two or more stacks Arts Susceptibility on enemies.
- Whirlpools are the engine of the loop: with none available the Battle Skill produces only a single Waterspout and cannot apply the susceptibility debuff at all.
- The Ultimate locks enemies in place across a wide area, halting their actions, then drops a rogue wave for heavy damage; a dive attack with the controlled operator can end the stare early for a stronger, faster hit.
- Talent Riot Bringer lets a dive attack during the Ultimate cut the OLDEN STARE short, spawning Waterspouts from any nearby Whirlpools and giving those Waterspouts bonus damage.
- Talent Fam of Honor grants nearby allies Haste and slows enemies while they stand close to a Whirlpool.
Scaling
- Her own damage leans on Agility and Strength, so raising her main attribute improves both her personal numbers and how much she contributes during debuff windows.
- In the early game she performs acceptably as a lone damage dealer, but her support ceiling only appears once teammates reliably enable the Whirlpool-to-Waterspout sequence.
- Since Arts Susceptibility only lands when at least two Waterspouts exist, her value climbs steeply in Arts teams that can help her set up or extend those windows.
- Weapons without support effects widen the gap considerably: the cheaper alternatives raise her personal damage but never amplify the rest of the team.
Team Role
Tangtang works as a plug-in debuffer and secondary damage dealer rather than a dedicated carry. Her standard routine opens with the Combo Skill so a Whirlpool is already on the field, then spends the Battle Skill to spin it into Waterspouts that apply Arts Susceptibility and raise the whole team's Arts damage. In multi-target fights she can skip the setup entirely and hit several enemies at once, because every enemy struck spawns its own Waterspout. Her Ultimate is primarily a tempo tool: it freezes enemy actions over a wide area, which is perfect for covering long-animation teammates or carving out a safe damage window, and a dive attack can cut it short for a bigger burst. She fits comfortably beside Arts damage dealers, slow-casting hypercarries, and any unit that reliably applies Cryo Infliction or Arts Burst damage to keep her Combo Skill trigger available.

Explanation
Before endgame gear is available, the goal is simply to stack Agility and skill damage, and Opus: The Living covers both without demanding rare materials.
Roving MSGR is picked for the sizable flat Agility it grants, which beats alternatives such as Mordvolt Insulation at this point in progression.
The set's Physical DMG bonus does very little for a Cryo kit, so treat it as a side benefit rather than the reason to run the set.
Notes
- Opus: The Living is the realistic choice at this stage, raising Arts damage while also feeding Agility and Infliction.
- Roving MSGR's flat Agility matters far more than the set's Physical DMG bonus, since Agility is her primary attribute.
