Weapons
Kitain Cross Spear: high refinement further lowers Energy Recharge needs.
Dragon's Bane: more reasonable at C4.
Favonius Lance: build some CRIT Rate to trigger its passive.
Rightful Reward: reasonable when Thoma is healed consistently (overhealing counts) due to high energy generation.
Artifact Main Stats
Max Elemental Mastery with enough Energy Recharge for damage; some HP% mains can strengthen shields. This matters in teams with no other defensive utility, since Burgeon deals self-damage.
Talent Priority
Talent levels do not affect Burgeon damage, so they are optional for that; level them for stronger shields.
Support
Maximize Thoma as a Shield Support.
Weapons
Favonius Lance: generally best for Shield Support; build CRIT Rate to trigger its passive.
Rightful Reward: hard or unfeasible to trigger when Thoma is a Shield Support; if triggered consistently, it is good for HP% and energy.
Artifact Sets
Instructor (4): best in heavily reaction-focused teams like Hu Tao Vaporize, where Elemental Mastery is well used. Downside: 4-star artifacts give fewer substat rolls, making Energy Recharge and HP goals harder.

An SS-tier Burgeon team built around Thoma's on-hit Pyro application. Nahida provides constant Dendro while Ayato and Yelan supply Hydro to generate cores. Thoma's shield also keeps the driver safe.

Create Bloom cores with Dendro (Nahida) and Hydro (Ayato, Yelan), then use Thoma's Burst to apply Pyro and trigger Burgeon for massive AoE DMG.
