ZZZ’s Carrot Smuggling Event Sends Proxies on a Detective Hunt Through October

If you have been waiting for a reason to dive back into Zenless Zone Zero, the Carrot smuggling case might be it. This limited-time event drops players into a detective-style investigation alongside Crowe and Hobble, two characters from a detective agency. The event runs from October 3 to October 19, 2026, and rewards participants with Polychromes, Boopons, and upgrade materials. For anyone saving up for future banners, that is a solid incentive to clear the full mission chain.

The event belongs to the Version 3.2 update cycle, which went live on September 9, 2026. That patch introduced new Agents and story content, and this event extends that narrative thread. If you are still working through the main story, you will need to reach Inter-Knot Level 20 and finish Chapter 1 – Intermission before you can join the investigation.

What the event requires

Before you can start, the game checks two things. Your Inter-Knot level must be at least 20, and you need to have completed Main Story Chapter 1 – Intermission. New players should prioritize the main story if they want to participate. The event is time-gated once you unlock it, so there is no way to finish all five commissions in one sitting.

The five commissions unlock one after another. You have to finish the previous mission and wait for a specified time before the next one appears. That means you will need to log in across multiple days to see the story through to the end.

The five commissions

The event splits into five parts, each with a different focus. The commissions are:

  • Secret Contact
  • Logistics Spy
  • Port of Entry Investigation
  • Boo-Controlled Arrest
  • Pins and Truth

Official materials do not say how long the wait is between each unlock or what enemies you will fight. Based on past ZZZ events, expect a mix of combat phases and investigation segments. The detective angle means you will probably spend time tracking clues and questioning suspects as well as fighting.

Rewards you can expect

The reward pool covers three categories. Polychromes are the premium currency used for pulling Agents and W-Engines. Boopons go toward the Bangboo gacha. Upgrade materials, likely character and W-Engine ascension items, round out the list.

The exact Polychrome count has not been published, but similar events have handed out a few hundred. For free-to-play players, that is a meaningful boost to savings for upcoming banners. If you pulled the new 3.2 Agents Roxy or Promeia, the upgrade materials will help you build them faster.

Tips for making the most of it

Because the commissions unlock over time, checking in daily is the simplest way to stay on track. You do not need to rush, but missing a day could push you past the October 19 cutoff.

Crowe and Hobble are likely trial characters or story NPCs, but you can bring your own team. A balanced roster with damage dealers and support characters will cover whatever enemy types show up. The official materials do not specify enemy lineups, so prepare for variety.

If you are still leveling up, focus on the main story requirements first. The event will be available for over two weeks, which gives you time to catch up on the prerequisite chapters.

The Carrot smuggling case ends on October 19, 2026 at 03:59 server time. After that, the commissions and their rewards disappear. Players who meet the requirements and clear all five parts will walk away with Polychromes, Boopons, and materials that make the next banner cycle a little easier to face.
