Baicang Build Guide

IncantationBureau of Anomaly Control, ETD-4View Character

Baicang is an Incantation DPS who deals damage from multiple sources and has versatile combos. He serves as the main DPS of your team, but his combos can be difficult to execute and his moveset can be clunky, leaving him at A-tier compared to more convenient S-rank characters.

Strengths

  • Deals a plethora of Incantation DMG from multiple sources in his kit.
  • Versatile combos give him flexibility in various situations.
  • Has good solo potential due to self-sustain and instakill mechanics.
  • Ultimate can instantly kill enemies below a certain HP threshold.
  • Self-sufficient with HP drain-and-return mechanic via Bless.

Weaknesses

  • Main combos can be difficult to execute, requiring practice.
  • Moveset can feel clunky, making him less convenient than S-tier DPS.
  • Relies on a healer to offset HP costs from his best Arc, Camellia Society.
  • Long field time demands proper team rotation support.

Best Arcs

Best Cartridge

Epic (2): Incantation DMG +10%. Legendary (4): Increases wearer's ATK by 6% when a nearby enemy takes Incantation DMG from the Team, up to 6 stacks. Each stack lasts 10s. Effect remains active when the character is off-field.

Best Main Stat: CRIT DMG or Incantation DMG Bonus

  • CRIT DMG is Baicang's preferred Main Stat since it allows Baicang to meet a healthy 1:2 ratio while still retaining his damage, which helps keep his numbers consistent.
  • If you are trying to optimize Baicang for the highest damage however, Incantation DMG Bonus is a good option for raw damage, but relies on Baicang getting good substats on his Cartridge and Module pieces to even out his stats.

  • Try to get Modules that have the sub stats listed above to improve Baicang's damage consistency.

Best Teams

Baicang Scorch-Discord Team

Baicang serves as the team's main Incantation DPS, dealing both burst and sustained damage with his plethora of skills and his Ultimate. Daffodill rotates to help break enemy weaknesses and trigger Scorch. Sakiri provides generalist buffs, while Haniel opens up the Discord Esper Cycle. Adler is a general-purpose shielder, Jiuyuan functions as another Sub-DPS and crowd controller, and Fadia triggers Discord and acts as a damage sponge.

Start with supports: use shielder/mitigation skill, buffer skill, buffer ultimate, then sub-DPS skill and ultimate before swapping to Baicang.

Baicang should go last in the rotation due to his long DPS time.

Use Baicang's combos to deal damage and trigger Scorch/Discord as needed.

Daffodill helps break enemy weaknesses and triggers Scorch.

Sakiri provides generalist buffs; Haniel opens up Discord.

Adler shields, Jiuyuan crowd controls, Fadia triggers Discord and tanks.

Skill Priority

3

Walk the Talk

Baicang's Basic Attack should also be leveled, but in a secondary priority since he uses it a lot during his combos, but is more of an addon to his innately pseudo-burst damage rotations.

3

Break Time Over

Deals one additional instance of Incantation DMG over time. Level this as your last priority since Baicang is a more proactive DPS rather than passive.

5

Judgment of Autumn

Baicang's Ultimate provides considerable burst DMG, passive DoT damage, and improves all of Baicang's existing damage. This should be taken first to improve his overall damage.

5

Generous Guidance

This is Baicang's main source of damage, and should be maxed second alongside his Ultimate due to how versatile its use cases are.

Awakening Priority

1

White Aspect

A free 30% increase to CRIT Rate to Baicang's kit during his Ultimate more than justifies picking this up as his first Awakening.

2

Yo, Captain!

Provides bonus damage to Baicang's Silence, as well as reducing Skill cooldown when Objugate is triggered. This should be your second Awakening to pick up due to its Quality-of-Life upgrades.

3

In Honor of Moonlight

The increase to his Ultimate duration from 12s to 16s means that there is less downtime between Baicang's damage windows. This should be taken third after his main Awakening Effect powerspikes.

4

Or Perhaps Blessings

This Awakening Effect is particularly good if Baicang has access to his Best-in-Slot Arc since it counteracts the HP cost mechanic entirely by healing him for the exact cost and more during his Ultimate.

5

Curses Spoken Into Being

The increase to the Power Word generation limit is useful as a prerequisite for Baicang's A2. Not too impactful on its own, but great in conjunction with other Awakening Effects.

6

Soul Caller

Provides a possible total of 24% bonus ATK when Power Words are generated. Good to have when A3 is available.

How to Play

Baicang is a proactive Incantation DPS with a long field time and complex combos. He should be played last in rotations, with supports setting up before he takes the field. His kit revolves around using Formless and Unrestrained Words, applying Silence or Objurgate, and then using his Ultimate to deal massive damage and instakill low-HP enemies. He has decent solo potential and self-sustain via Bless.

Rotations

  1. 1Prerequisite Team Rotation: Shielder/Mitigation Skill → Buffer Skill → Buffer Ultimate → Sub-DPS Skill → Sub-DPS Ultimate → Swap to Baicang
  2. 2Baicang AoE Combo: Baicang Skill → Baicang Basic Attack → Baicang Hold Basic Attack → Baicang Alt Skill (AoE) → Baicang Ultimate → Baicang Basic Attack x3 → Baicang Dodge Attack → Baicang Skill when available
  3. 3Baicang Single-Target Combo: Baicang Skill → Baicang Basic Attack → Baicang Standard Dodge → Baicang Alt Skill (Single-Target) → Baicang Ultimate → Baicang Basic Attack x3 → Baicang Dodge Attack → Baicang Skill when available

Tips

  • Dodge Gives Access to Special Attacks: Holding dodge while moving performs Formless Words, firing three projectiles in a cone. Holding dodge without moving performs Unrestrained Words, firing three projectiles that reach further. Both open up his Special Skill.
  • Skill Has Three Forms: Heart of Heaven and Earth (base), Silenced Thought (single-target, applies Silence), and Such Crime (AoE, applies Objurgate). Use Silenced Thought against bosses and Such Crime against groups.
  • Ultimate Activates Instakill: During his Ultimate, Baicang can instantly kill enemies below 10% HP (5% for bosses), indicated by a black-and-white impact frame.
  • Team Up With Anima or Chaos Characters: Anima teammates trigger Hexed, Chaos teammates trigger Scorch. Scorch is better due to Baicang's long field time and DoT contribution.
  • HP Costs and Healing: Basic Attacks apply Bless, which heals Baicang for 5% HP when triggered during his Ultimate. Land as many attacks as possible to heal.
  • Good Solo Potential: Baicang is self-sufficient and can solo most content due to his complex combos, HP drain-and-return, dodge-based kit, and instakill potential.
