Build Notes
Best in Slot
This endgame build focuses on maximizing Wulfgard's single-target Heat burst. The core loop is to apply Combustion, gain Scorching Fangs, and then immediately cast Thermite Tracers to consume the reaction for a massive extra hit. Hot Work and Bonekrusha stack Heat DMG and Arts Intensity so both his reaction damage and his skill damage stay high. It is a straightforward burst DPS setup that rewards good reaction timing but is limited by its single-target nature.
Rational Farewell is chosen because its Pursuit effect grants a large ATK buff that Wulfgard can reliably trigger with his Combo Skill, making it easy to keep up in fights.
Hot Work is the natural set for a Combustion DPS: it raises Arts Intensity and grants a huge Heat DMG spike whenever Wulfgard applies Combustion, exactly lining up with his combo loop.
Bonekrusha is the best glove off-piece because it matches the Strength/Agility stat profile and adds extra Heat DMG to both his normal skills and his Combustion procs.
If you don't have Rational Farewell, Clannibal and Wedge are acceptable damage options, while Long Road is a budget 4-star pick for early progression.
- Hot Work increases Arts Intensity and gives a +50% Heat DMG bonus after applying Combustion, which directly boosts Wulfgard's DoT and skill damage.
- Using Bonekrusha Wristband as the off-piece adds extra Heat DMG and pairs well with the set's stat focus on Strength and Agility.
- Some players prefer MI Security gear for pure Battle Skill damage, especially if they feel Hot Work's Arts Intensity doesn't benefit Wulfgard enough because Combustion is often consumed quickly.
- Clannibal can work as an alternative but forces you to carefully wait for Combustion to tick before consuming it, adding extra micromanagement.
Rank #2
This build turns Wulfgard into a pure Heat Infliction support. The focus is on cooldown reduction and Ultimate Gain so he can apply Combustion and Heat status as often as possible. Qingbo's cooldown reduction and Redeemer Seal's Ultimate Gain let Wulfgard feed two Heat Inflictions to the team, giving Laevatain an easy way to stack Melting Flame. This loadout sacrifices personal DPS to make the entire team's reaction damage stronger.
OBJ Velocitous is the best support weapon because its high Ultimate Gain boost lets Wulfgard cast Wolven Fury more often, applying Combustion on a consistent basis.
Qingbo is the chosen set because its Combo Skill cooldown reduction maximizes the number of Heat Inflictions Wulfgard can apply, which is the whole point of the support role.
The glove and kit pieces from Qingbo still provide useful skill damage and stat bonuses, while the Redeemer Seal off-piece pushes his Ultimate gain even higher.
Rational Farewell is a fine substitute when the team doesn't need extra Ultimate charging and you want Wulfgard to contribute damage while supporting.
- Qingbo reduces Combo Skill cooldown by 15% and lets Wulfgard keep Heat Infliction uptime much higher, which is exactly what support Wulfgard needs.
- The Redeemer Seal off-piece gives a large Ultimate Gain boost, allowing Wulfgard to use his Ultimate more often and apply more Combustion procs for reaction partners.
- If you already have enough Ultimate charging in the team, Rational Farewell can be used instead of OBJ Velocitous for extra personal damage.
- This build is specifically designed to stack Heat Infliction for Laevatain's Melting Flame, making Wulfgard an excellent enabler in Heat-based teams.
Best in Slot
The early game build keeps Wulfgard as a simple single-target DPS. He uses Rational Farewell for its attack buff and Armored MSGR for its Strength and ATK bonuses. Since early gear lacks Combo Skill cooldown reduction, support Wulfgard isn't practical yet, so this build leans into raw damage from Battle Skill and Combustion. It's a budget-friendly setup that transitions naturally into the endgame Combustion DPS build.
Rational Farewell is strong even at low investment because its Pursuit ATK buff is easy to activate with Combo Skill and scales well as the weapon is upgraded.
Armored MSGR gives Strength and Attack bonuses, which are the stats Wulfgard needs to deal damage in the early game before reaction-focused gear is available.
This build prioritizes a simple damage rotation: apply Heat, consume it with Battle Skill, and let the Strength and ATK stats carry the early fights.
Once you can farm Qingbo or Hot Work sets, you should switch to either the support or the DPS endgame build depending on how you want to play Wulfgard.
- Armored MSGR gives a flat Strength bonus and some defensive value, making it a solid early set even though the damage reduction effect isn't the main draw.
- Early game gear doesn't have enough cooldown reduction for Wulfgard's support playstyle, so it's better to focus on his DPS stats instead.
- Using the same Rational Farewell weapon from the start lets you keep his chasing skill priority and damage potential as you progress.
