Zankou Build Guide

IncantationなしView Character

Zankou is an S-Tier Incantation Main DPS who swaps between her Reality and Illusion states to spread damage-over-time effects and keep constant, unrelenting pressure on enemies. Her kit rewards proper damage-window setup and capitalizes on follow-up attacks during Illusion. The bulk of her output comes from Incantation damage, Heartwrench DoT pressure, and enhanced attacks after shifting states, so her best build balances CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, Incantation DMG%, Universal DMG%, and ATK% to maximize both direct and sustained damage at the same time.

Strengths

  • Signature Arc Ravenous Blade provides the CRIT ceiling she wants while massively boosting damage on every Incantation hit.
  • Constant Incantation damage lets her naturally stack and maintain cartridge and Arc buffs while on-field.
  • Heartwrench and the Scorch reaction keep enemies under sustained damage-over-time pressure rather than relying only on burst windows.
  • Strong, accessible alternatives exist in Fluff of Finesse, Cosmos Daze, Wild Reverie, and Lost Radiance.
  • A Break-focused team variant lets her play around enemy broken phases more safely.

Weaknesses

  • Her best damage windows hinge on correctly timing Reality and Illusion form switches.
  • She wants long on-field time, so her Support Skill and off-field contributions matter less.
  • Her lowest-priority Awakenings add only comfort and interruption resistance rather than damage.
  • Reaching peak performance is tied to premium supports like Sakiri and Lacrimosa.

Best Arcs

Best Cartridge

Crimson: Twin Butterflies

Epic (2): Incantation DMG +10%. Legendary (4): Increases the wearer's ATK by 6% when a nearby enemy takes Incantation DMG from the team, up to 6 stacks, each lasting 10s. Remains active while off-field.

Best Main Stat: Incantation DMG%

  • Incantation DMG% is her best main stat because it improves the damage type she uses across her entire rotation, making it more reliable than stats that only help part of her kit.
  • Best substats: CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, Universal DMG%, ATK%, ATK.

Substat Priority

  • This layout activates Crimson: Twin Butterflies' 4-piece effect while packing in as many Type III Modules as possible for the bonus Module effect.
  • Incantation DMG% as the main stat gives the most consistent damage increase, affecting every part of her kit.
  • Aim for CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG first for direct damage, then Universal DMG% and ATK% to boost output in both Reality and Illusion.

Best Teams

Zankou DoT Team

A premier damage-over-time team built around Zankou's Incantation damage and sustained DoT effects, keeping enemies under constant pressure while she operates under extreme safety.

Open with your supports to prepare buffs, shields, and DoT support before swapping to Zankou.

Use Zankou's Skill to enter Illusion after 4-5 Basic Attacks, triggering Disarray for AoE Break damage.

Attack in Illusion to apply Incantation damage and spread Heartwrench DoT across grouped enemies.

Use Soulcross just before the Illusion timer expires to trigger Oblivion and return to Reality.

Cast Bloodfeast Reverie as soon as it is available, then follow up with a free Inferno Flamenco.

Loop back to supports to refresh buffs and shields, then repeat the rotation.

  • Sakiri's DoT-focused buffing is especially valuable for keeping enemies pressured through Scorch rather than short burst windows.
  • Both Iroi and Adler work as strong comfort picks thanks to their healing/offensive support and shielding respectively.
Zankou Break Team

A Break-centric setup that trades some of the DoT team's constant pressure for more potent Break utility, letting Zankou dish out damage more safely during enemies' broken phases.

Lean on Daffodill to tear down the enemy's Break gauge before committing Zankou's damage windows.

Keep Sakiri's buffs active to boost both the team's overall damage and the secondary Scorch DoT source.

Use Adler's shielding to safely run this rotation while enemies are broken.

Equip Sakiri or Adler with The Great Thief Arc to add Break Intensity for quicker clears.

  • This composition foregoes some of the DoT team's constant pressure in exchange for faster, safer broken-phase clears.

Skill Priority

3

Sanguine Dash / Soulcross (Skill)

A cornerstone of her kit, but still upgrade it after her Ultimate and Basic Attack. Sanguine Dash enters Illusion and applies Heartwrench, while Soulcross returns her to Reality with a chance to activate Bloodfeast Reverie when timed properly. The form-switching utility is always relevant, but its damage scaling is slightly lower priority.

3

Stoked Flame (Support Skill)

Level last since Zankou is first and foremost a Main DPS. It is still valuable as an added Incantation DMG and instance source, but most of her value comes from staying active on-field instead of swapping in and out.

5

Bloodfeast Reverie / Inferno Flamenco (Ultimate)

Prioritize her Ultimate first, as it is the main end goal coming off her primary rotations. After laying down Bloodfeast Reverie, she can follow up with an enhanced Inferno Flamenco without spending additional Ultimate Energy, giving her a massively empowered burst window after applying Heartwrench.

5

Wildfire (Basic Attack)

Another top priority since, as a Main DPS who appreciates long field time, she spends most of it attacking in both Reality and Illusion. Wildfire deals Incantation DMG while stacking toward her form switch, and its four distinct forms cater to any situation.

Awakening Priority

1

Eyes of Abyss

Activate first as it lets her keep both Hunt and Delusion active more consistently. Hunt enhances her personal damage while Delusion increases the whole team's DoT CRIT DMG, from her Reality and Illusion states respectively, making it a huge boon for both her own combat and her team buffing.

2

Nightmare Bloom

Streamlines her Ultimate flow by automatically activating her second Ultimate as soon as her main one becomes available, making it much easier to access her full Ultimate chain and reap the rewards of her set-up DoT effects.

3

Blood Stained Eyes

Further improves her finisher by increasing the final hit of Oblivion based on the number of DoT stacks on the target. Since her teams heap on stacking DoT effects, this is a strong damage boost in her best composition.

4

Abyssal Kiss

Lets Zankou passively build up Kindling after taking part in Cycles that trigger Incantation-based reactions, increasing the final damage of her next Ultimate by up to 150%. It is lower on the priority list because it relies heavily on keeping Scorch or Hexed active.

5

Bloom in Blood

Adds another layer of Break utility to her enhanced Redirect Skill, making her less reliant on Break-focused teammates and increasing team damage against Broken enemies. Useful in Break teams, but DoT and Ultimate-focused Awakenings still take precedence.

6

Kiss in a Nightmare

Offers extra comfort by improving interruption resistance and giving her healing through Delusion. It allows a safer time on-field but adds no damage, a considerable sacrifice compared to her higher-priority Awakenings.

How to Play

Zankou's game plan is to frontload support buffs, shields, and reaction support, then build up Heartwrench DoT in Illusion before snapping back to Reality to cash out. Use her Redirect Skills deliberately: enter Illusion to spread damage-over-time, return with Soulcross just before the timer expires to trigger Oblivion, and finish with Bloodfeast Reverie into a free Inferno Flamenco.

Rotations

  1. 1Sakiri Skill → Adler Skill or Iroi Skill → Lacrimosa Skill or Daffodill Skill → Swap to Zankou → Perform 4-5 Basic Attacks to trigger Disarray → Zankou Skill to enter Illusion → Basic Attack combo with Stoked Flame → Apply and spread Heartwrench DoT → Use Soulcross to return to Reality → Trigger Oblivion → Cast Bloodfeast Reverie (as soon as available) → Follow up with Inferno Flamenco → Repeat

Tips

  • Prepare buffs, shields, or DoT support from Sakiri and Iroi/Adler before swapping to Zankou.
  • Perform at least 4 Basic Attacks before dashing so Sanguine Dash triggers Disarray's heavy AoE Break damage.
  • Attack with Nightmare Waltz or Moonlight in Illusion to spread Heartwrench to nearby foes, especially against grouped mobs.
  • Jolt back to Reality with Soulcross just before the Illusion timer expires, when the skill icon flashes/lights up, to trigger Oblivion's AoE damage.
  • Do not use Soulcross as a movement or utility ability; it is an integral part of her damage rotation.
  • Cast Bloodfeast Reverie right after Soulcross, then immediately follow up with the Energy-free Inferno Flamenco for her strongest burst.
  • Loop back to supports once her damage sequence ends to reapply and refresh buffs, shields, or reaction boosts, then repeat.
