Genshin Impact 7.2 Adds Two Electro Characters From Snezhnaya, but the Big Details Are Still Missing

Electro players have a new reason to keep an eye on the next patch cycle. HoYoVerse has confirmed that Genshin Impact 7.2 will add two characters from Snezhnaya, and both of them deal Electro damage. That is the headline. The catch is everything else, because the official announcement left rarity, kits, and banner timing out of the materials it published.

The confirmation went out through the game’s official social media accounts on September 29, 2026. Both Mitya and Valeriy are tied to the Armory Palace, the military hub of Snezhnaya, which gives them a shared home base even though their personalities look nothing alike.

What the 7.2 reveal means for Electro players

Two new Electro units in one patch is not something every region gets. The reveal confirms the pair’s elements and general roles, and it also confirms where they work. Everything past that point is still open, which is why the community reaction has been a mix of excitement and impatience.

Mitya and his Stellar Linchpin

Mitya works as a specialist for the Royal Energy Commission of Snezhnaya. His most unusual trait is the object he channels his power through. Instead of a standard Vision, he uses a Stellar Linchpin to produce Electro attacks, a break from how most characters in the game handle their element.

The Fatui Harbinger Jester Pierro has described Mitya as eccentric and has waved off his quirks because of his work. That casual, lackadaisical attitude sits oddly against the efficiency Snezhnaya usually expects from its people. It is the kind of detail that could spill over into his story quest or his kit, though nothing is confirmed yet.

Valeriy, the major from the Special Assignments Battalion

Valeriy carries the rank of major and leads the Special Assignments Battalion. His announcement tweet leans hard on a strict, regimented personality and a stated commitment to protecting the people under his command. Where Mitya is loose, Valeriy is rigid.

He also channels Electro the old-fashioned way, through a traditional Vision. His military record and his position inside the Armory Palace point to a combat-first role, which would fit a more straightforward kit.

What the announcement did not say

Here is where things get thin. HoYoVerse has not stated whether Mitya or Valeriy will be 5-star or 4-star units. There is no confirmed banner phase and no exact release date beyond the 7.2 patch window. Rarity information is simply absent from official materials.

That has not stopped speculation. Based on past patterns, one of them could end up a 5-star while the other lands at 4-star, but that is a guess and nothing more. Anyone who has been burned by banner leaks before should treat such talk as rumor until HoYoVerse says otherwise. The only confirmed fact is that both characters join the game in 7.2.

Unconfirmed and subject to change. Judging their power level now is premature. Wait for official gameplay trailers or beta data before you commit anything.

Team options are still guesswork

Without kit details, team building is mostly guesswork. Both characters are Electro, so they could slot into reaction teams built around Aggravate, Hyperbloom, or Electro-Charged. Mitya’s Stellar Linchpin might act like a Vision with unusual side effects, and it could interact with the Stellar Swirl reaction introduced back in 7.0. Valeriy’s conventional Vision points to a more direct Electro application.

One name keeps coming up as a potential teammate: Vodyanitsa, whose kit reshapes Stellar Swirl and Freeze compositions. Future Snezhnaya characters could also matter once regional mechanics develop further. All of this is unconfirmed and could change with a single beta update.

Should you spend your Primogems

A real pull recommendation is impossible without rarity and kit numbers, and anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing. That said, players who want to be ready for 7.2 have a few things to weigh.

  • Electro depth. The pool already carries heavy hitters like Raiden Shogun and Yae Miko. New Electro units only earn their spot with unique mechanics, which puts extra weight on whatever the Stellar Linchpin actually does.
  • Snezhnaya synergy. Both characters come from Snezhnaya, so they could pair well with future regional characters or mechanics starting from 7.0 onward.
  • Free-to-play planning. If 7.1 drained your Primogems, start banking now. The 7.1 Primogem guide on GenshinBuilds walks through how to squeeze out the most free pulls before 7.2 arrives.

Use the current patch to save up

Version 7.1 is live right now and runs until early November 2026. It introduced Vesna and Vodyanitsa as playable characters, plus anniversary rewards and a set of limited-time events. Clearing that content is the most reliable way to stockpile Primogems ahead of the 7.2 banners.

No events for 7.2 have been announced yet, and that detail is missing from official materials. Version 7.1, meanwhile, offers around 92 free pulls for free-to-play accounts, a solid head start toward whatever Mitya and Valeriy end up costing.
