Laevatain sits at the very top of the tier list thanks to huge single-target and wide area damage that lets her clear nearly any content. Her kit needs Heat Infliction to charge up, but the units that supply it are cheap or free, so she performs at her ceiling almost immediately after being pulled.
endgamedpslate_gamehypercarryelemental_dmgult_uptimeburst
This endgame hypercarry setup leans fully into damage and Ultimate frequency. Forgeborn Scathe supplies Intellect and Attack while adding basic attack damage during Twilight, and the Hot Work set is triggered by the Combustion her enhanced Smouldering Fire applies, converting it into a wide Heat DMG buff that touches every part of her kit. The single off-piece, Redeemer Armor, trades a set slot for extra Ultimate Gain plus Intellect and Strength, which shortens the wait between Ultimate windows. The result is a build where her basic attacks, Battle Skill and Ultimate all contribute, rather than one skill carrying the whole load. Stat allocation prioritises Intellect and Strength first, then Attack, DMG Bonus, and finally Ultimate Gain to smooth out the rotation.

Explanation

Forgeborn Scathe is picked because it feeds both Intellect and Attack, the two attributes that matter most for her damage formula, and its unique effect boosts basic attack damage during the Ultimate window.
Since most of her damage is dealt while Twilight is active, improving basic attacks during that window rounds out her whole kit instead of over-investing in one skill.
Hot Work is the gear answer because her enhanced Battle Skill forcibly applies Combustion, and the set converts that into a big Heat DMG multiplier for her entire kit.
Umbral Torch is the best fallback but noticeably weaker — its Heat DMG stats overlap with the bonuses she already stacks and hit diminishing returns, so it should only be used if Forgeborn Scathe is unavailable.
Fortmaker is the free-to-play substitute from Stock Redistribution, and Wave Tide is a reasonable early-game placeholder.

Notes

  • The Hot Work set gives Arts Intensity and, critically, a large Heat DMG buff for 10s whenever the wearer applies Combustion — which her enhanced Smouldering Fire does for free.
  • Because Combustion is applied by her own skill, the set bonus is effectively self-triggered on every 4-stack Battle Skill, so uptime is excellent.
  • Redeemer Armor is slotted in as an off-piece purely for the Ultimate Gain, letting her reach Twilight more often.
early gamedpsbeginnerf2phypercarryult_uptimeelemental_dmg
This is the starter version of her hypercarry setup, built around gear that is easy to obtain. Fortmaker gives a mix of damage and Ultimate acceleration so she cycles Twilight at a reasonable rate while still hitting hard. Mordvolt Insulation fills every slot and stacks Intellect, flat Arts damage and a conditional Arts DMG bonus, all of which feed into her Heat damage. Keeping her above 80% HP is the only upkeep requirement, which any healer or shielder can handle. Stat priority is Intellect first for raw scaling, then Attack, then Ultimate Gain to keep her main damage window available as often as possible.

1intellect_boost2attack_boost3ultimate_gain_boost

Explanation

Before endgame gear is available, Fortmaker is the practical choice: it improves her damage while also helping her reach her Ultimate more reliably, which is where her output concentrates.
Mordvolt Insulation is chosen because it simultaneously raises Intellect, gives flat Arts damage, and adds a further Arts DMG bonus while she is above 80% HP — all of which feed her Heat damage scaling.
The HP condition on the set is easy to maintain with any sustain teammate, so the bonus is realistically up most of the time.
Upgrade away from this build once Forgeborn Scathe and Hot Work become available; this is a functional placeholder, not a permanent setup.

Notes

  • The full Mordvolt Insulation set supplies Intellect plus an Arts DMG bonus whenever she stays above 80% HP, so it rewards keeping her healthy.
  • Fortmaker is the recommended budget pick and covers both her damage and her Ultimate rotation.
  • Because a large share of her damage sits behind Twilight, Ultimate Gain is worth prioritising on this setup.

Build Insights

Laevatain is a carry who occupies the controlled-operator slot for the majority of a fight. Her loop is to have an ally apply Heat Infliction (or trigger Combustion/Corrosion), absorb it with a Final Strike to build Melting Flame, then convert 4 stacks into an enhanced Battle Skill that forces Combustion in a wide area, refunds a big chunk of Ultimate Energy, and pushes her toward Twilight. Because her Ultimate makes her the controlled operator and greatly boosts her basic attacks, she wants to be the character you are actively piloting rather than a background damage dealer. Team building is therefore straightforward: pair her with a Heat Infliction enabler such as Wulfgard or a Corrosion applier, add a sustain or buffer slot, and let her cycle Burst windows. She has no strict positional requirements, but she wants allies who can keep statuses ticking on the enemies she is already attacking so stacks never stall, and she benefits from any teammate who accelerates her Ultimate rotation.
Core Mechanics
  • Melting Flame stacks are the core resource: a Final Strike performed on an enemy carrying Heat Infliction absorbs it and grants one stack, up to 4.
  • Once 4 stacks are banked, Smouldering Fire consumes them for an extra hit with forced Combustion and a large Ultimate Energy refund.
  • Only her Ultimate applies Heat Infliction on her own, so most stacks are fed by allies or by her Seethe combo trigger on Combusted or Corroded targets.
  • Heat is her damage element, and Scorching Heart converts 4 stacks into a Heat RES shred window.
Scaling
  • Scales very hard into the late game: most of her output is concentrated in the Ultimate window and the enhanced Battle Skill, both of which grow heavily with investment.
  • Early on she functions fine with a budget weapon and the free Mordvolt Insulation set, so she is usable long before endgame gear is available.
  • Team dependency is moderate: she needs a reliable Heat Infliction or Corrosion source to keep stacking, but the enablers are accessible and free-to-play friendly.

Character Notes

Laevatain is a Heat-element Striker and sword wielder who plays as a dedicated hypercarry. Her identity revolves around stacking Melting Flame by absorbing Heat Infliction, then converting those stacks into an enhanced Battle Skill that forces Combustion, deals her largest single hit, and refunds a substantial amount of Ultimate Energy. Her Ultimate, Twilight, makes her the controlled operator, massively empowering her basic attacks and letting her generate her own Heat Infliction. She brings excellent single-target and AoE damage, is straightforward to build around, and her setup partners are cheap or free, making her one of the strongest and most accessible carries in the game.
Playstyle
  • Always open with a Final Strike on an enemy that already carries Heat Infliction so you bank Melting Flame stacks — a hit on a clean target wastes the absorption.
  • Hold Smouldering Fire until you are at 4 stacks; firing early loses the extra hit and the Ultimate Energy refund.
  • Use Seethe mainly as a stack and energy engine — it triggers off any Combustion or Corrosion on the field, including your own.
  • Pilot her actively during Twilight: her third basic attack applies Heat Infliction and the following swing is a Final Strike that consumes it for another stack.
  • Fish for Finisher Attacks on staggered enemies to recover SP and keep the skill loop running.
Strengths
  • Very high burst and sustained damage with wide AoE coverage, able to handle practically any content.
  • Enhanced Battle Skill both deals her biggest single hit and returns a large amount of Ultimate Energy, so her rotation self-accelerates.
  • Ultimate turns her into the controlled operator with empowered basic attacks, giving her a self-sufficient damage window.
  • Scorching Heart grants Heat RES ignore at 4 stacks, letting her punch through resistant enemies.
  • Her best partners are inexpensive or free, so she reaches near-full power right after being obtained.
Weaknesses
  • Depends on Heat Infliction to build Melting Flame, and outside her Ultimate she must rely on allies or status effects to supply it.
  • A large portion of her damage lives inside the Twilight window, so the build lives or dies by Ultimate uptime.
  • Playing her well requires stack management — spending the Battle Skill before 4 stacks is a significant damage loss.
  • Re-Ignition is a purely defensive talent and loses value quickly once the team has reliable healing.

Team Guide

bestburst_teamheat_teamhypercarry
Laevatain carries as the only damage dealer, converting Heat Infliction into Melting Flame stacks and then unloading her empowered Battle Skill. Camille acts as the main Heat Infliction generator, and Arcane's Combo Skill copies Camille's applications while her Ultimate can spread an extra stack over a wide area. Ardelia provides the sustain slot and, more importantly, applies Corrosion that triggers Laevatain's Combo Skill for the last stack. The whole comp exists to feed stacks into one big damage window.

Explanation

Camille's Battle Skill repeatedly applies Heat Infliction, the resource Laevatain converts into Melting Flame.
Arcane duplicates Camille's Heat Infliction and her Ultimate adds stacks over a wide area, keeping the stack count high.
Ardelia's Combo Skill applies Corrosion, which triggers Laevatain's Combo Skill for the fourth Melting Flame stack.
Laevatain's empowered Battle Skill consumes every Melting Flame stack and benefits from Camille's Link buff.

Strengths

  • Two stack generators (Camille + Arcane) make it easy to reach the full Melting Flame count.
  • Arcane's duplication and AoE Ultimate give extra stack sources, raising the ceiling on Laevatain's burst.
  • Ardelia doubles as sustain and as the trigger that converts Corrosion into an extra stack.

Weaknesses

  • Final Strike must land before Corrosion and the Combo Skills are triggered, so the order is tight.
  • Locked to a narrow set of specific 5 and 6-star units, leaving little room for substitutions.
  • Single-target focused, so the extra stack gains from multi-enemy Final Strikes are less reliable.

Rotation

  1. 1Cast Camille's Battle Skill to place a single stack of Heat Infliction on the target.
  2. 2Trigger Arcane's Combo Skill to duplicate the Heat Infliction, adding another stack.
  3. 3Cast Camille's Battle Skill a second time for a third stack of Heat Infliction.
  4. 4Use Laevatain's Final Strike to absorb all Heat Inflictions and raise Melting Flame to 3 stacks.
  5. 5Trigger Ardelia's Combo Skill so the delayed Corrosion application is queued up.
  6. 6Trigger Camille's Combo Skill to apply the Link buff to Laevatain.
  7. 7Once Corrosion lands, use Laevatain's Combo Skill to gain the fourth Melting Flame stack.
  8. 8Cast Laevatain's Battle Skill to spend every Melting Flame stack and deal the enhanced hit, boosted by Link.
Camille applies Heat Infliction twice with Arcane copying in between, Laevatain absorbs it all with Final Strike, then Corrosion and Combo Skills deliver the last stack before the empowered Battle Skill.
alternativeburst_teamheat_teamhypercarry
This variant swaps Arcane for Wulfgard, who stacks Heat Infliction through both his Battle Skill and Combo Skill. Camille opens with her Battle Skill to add Heat Susceptibility, Weaken, and a stack of Heat Infliction, while Ardelia covers sustain and enables the Corrosion-based Combo Skill trigger. Because Camille's Combo Skill restores SP and grants Link when it hits a target carrying her Firefang Vesperwings debuff, the rotation stays stable. Against several enemies at once, extra Heat Inflictions absorbed by Final Strike can let you skip a stack-generating cast and save SP.

Explanation

Wulfgard and Camille together supply the cheap Heat Inflictions that Laevatain converts into Melting Flame.
Camille's first Battle Skill also applies Heat Susceptibility and Weaken through her Firefang Vesperwings debuff.
Camille's Combo Skill refunds SP and hands out Link when it connects with a debuffed enemy.
Ardelia's Corrosion timing is what pushes Laevatain's Melting Flame count to the maximum.

Strengths

  • Wulfgard's Battle Skill plus Combo Skill lines up three stack sources without extra setup.
  • Camille supplies SP recovery and a Link buff, smoothing out the damage window.
  • Multi-enemy fights let Final Strike harvest extra Heat Inflictions, saving SP on Wulfgard's cast.

Weaknesses

  • Stack generation depends heavily on Wulfgard's Combo Skill landing in the right order.
  • Timing Ardelia before Camille in the menu matters, and a wrong order delays Corrosion.
  • Single-target rotations are tight on SP without Camille's SP refund.

Rotation

  1. 1Lead with Camille's Battle Skill to apply Heat Susceptibility, Weaken, and one Heat Infliction stack.
  2. 2Cast Wulfgard's Battle Skill to add a second stack of Heat Infliction.
  3. 3Trigger Wulfgard's Combo Skill to bring the Heat Infliction total up to three.
  4. 4Perform Laevatain's Final Strike, absorbing all Heat Inflictions for 3 Melting Flame stacks.
  5. 5Trigger Ardelia's Combo Skill so Corrosion is applied a moment later.
  6. 6Trigger Camille's Combo Skill to regain SP, gaining Link if it hits the debuffed target.
  7. 7After Corrosion applies, use Laevatain's Combo Skill to reach 4 Melting Flame stacks.
  8. 8Cast Laevatain's Enhanced Battle Skill, consuming the Link buff to maximize damage.
Camille and Wulfgard stack Heat Infliction to three, Laevatain consumes them with Final Strike, then Corrosion and Laevatain's Combo Skill add the fourth before the enhanced Battle Skill spends the Link buff.
alternativeburst_teamheat_teamhypercarrysp_support
Here Akekuri takes the SP generation slot alongside Wulfgard, who handles Heat Infliction on his own. The standard loop is unchanged: Wulfgard lays down Heat Infliction with his Battle Skill and Combo Skill, Akekuri contributes a third stack, and Laevatain's Final Strike converts all three into Melting Flame. Ardelia's Corrosion then triggers Laevatain's Combo Skill for the fourth stack, and Akekuri's Ultimate can supply an extra Link buff before the enhanced Battle Skill is used. It is the simplest version of the hypercarry shell and a good fallback if Camille or Arcane is unavailable.

Explanation

Wulfgard supplies two of the three Heat Infliction stacks needed before Laevatain's Final Strike.
Akekuri covers the third stack and the SP generation slot that keeps the rotation running.
Ardelia's Corrosion is what enables Laevatain's Combo Skill for the final Melting Flame stack.
Akekuri's Ultimate adds a Link buff, which can be spent on Laevatain's enhanced Battle Skill.

Strengths

  • Fewer moving parts than the Camille variants, making the stack order easier to execute.
  • Akekuri fills both the SP generation and Heat Infliction duties in one slot.
  • Akekuri's Ultimate offers an optional Link buff for a stronger burst window.

Weaknesses

  • Reaching four stacks depends on Ardelia's Corrosion timing rather than on a duplicated stack source.
  • The Link buff is only available when Akekuri's Ultimate has charged, so peak damage is inconsistent.
  • Slightly lower stack generation ceiling compared to running Arcane or Camille.

Rotation

  1. 1Cast Wulfgard's Battle Skill to apply the first stack of Heat Infliction.
  2. 2Trigger Wulfgard's Combo Skill for a second stack of Heat Infliction.
  3. 3Cast Akekuri's Battle Skill to place the third Heat Infliction stack.
  4. 4Perform Laevatain's Final Strike to convert the three Heat Inflictions into Melting Flame, then trigger Ardelia's Combo Skill.
  5. 5Once Ardelia's Corrosion lands, use Laevatain's Combo Skill to reach 4 Melting Flame stacks.
  6. 6Use Akekuri's Ultimate when it is ready to grant the Link buff.
  7. 7Cast Laevatain's Enhanced Battle Skill to consume all Melting Flame stacks and close out the damage window.
Wulfgard applies two Heat Inflictions, Akekuri adds a third, Laevatain absorbs them for 3 Melting Flame, then Corrosion unlocks the Combo Skill stack and Akekuri's Ultimate buffs the finishing Battle Skill.

Team Insights

Laevatain is built as a hypercarry: she is the only real damage dealer and the other three slots exist to manufacture Melting Flame stacks for her. The pattern is always the same — two or more allies apply Heat Infliction, Laevatain uses Final Strike to absorb those stacks into Melting Flame, then a Corrosion application from Ardelia triggers Laevatain's own Combo Skill to push the count to its maximum. Only then does her empowered Battle Skill fire, so the entire team is timed around that single burst window. The second slot is usually an SP generator and stack applier (Akekuri or Camille), while the third slot adds either extra Heat Infliction (Wulfgard) or duplication and AoE spread (Arcane). Ardelia's slot is effectively mandatory because her Corrosion is the enabler for the last stack.
Synergy Patterns
  • Heat Infliction appliers feed Laevatain's Final Strike, which converts absorbed stacks into Melting Flame.
  • Ardelia's Corrosion triggers Laevatain's Combo Skill, granting a stack without any extra Heat Infliction.
  • Camille's Link buff is spent on Laevatain's enhanced Battle Skill for the largest damage spike.
  • Arcane echoes Camille's Heat Infliction applications and can spread stacks with her Ultimate.
  • Akekuri doubles as an SP generator and a third Heat Infliction source, and her Ultimate adds Link.
Tips
  • Always resolve Final Strike before the Combo Skills so the absorbed stacks register before Corrosion.
  • Placing Ardelia earlier in the party menu makes her Combo Skill fire sooner, shortening Corrosion downtime.
  • Against groups, an AoE Final Strike can absorb Heat Infliction from several enemies and let you drop a stack-generating cast for SP savings.
  • Save Laevatain's enhanced Battle Skill until every Melting Flame stack is banked — spending it early wastes the whole setup.
  • Camille's Combo Skill only grants Link when it hits a target affected by her Firefang Vesperwings debuff, so apply it first.
