Everything to know about Ineffa’s debut banner in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact players will have their first chance to pull Ineffa starting September 1, 2024. The five-star character arrives on the Astral Actuation banner, a standard Character Event Wish that uses the usual pity and 50/50 rules. But before you dump your Primogem stash, there are some things worth considering.

This is that rare moment when HoYoverse has confirmed a banner without revealing the character’s actual kit. That makes the decision to pull trickier than usual. Here’s what we know so far and how to think about it.

The one detail that sticks out

Official materials describe Ineffa as someone who has “started working on food with soul again.” It’s an odd phrasing — and probably intentional. The line suggests her personality revolves around cooking or restoration, which could hint at a support or healer role. But until HoYoverse releases gameplay footage or a full character trailer, that’s just speculation.

No four-star characters have been confirmed for the Astral Actuation banner yet. We also don’t know whether Ineffa will remain a limited character or eventually join the standard pool. Those are two big unknowns that will matter for planning.

Pull rules and what they mean for you

Like every Character Event Wish, Astral Actuation uses the standard pity system. You are guaranteed a five-star within 90 wishes. If you lose the 50/50 and get a standard character instead of Ineffa, your next five-star is guaranteed to be her.

That means players sitting at high pity or with a guarantee active have the safest path. Everyone else needs to decide if they are willing to risk Primogems on a character whose abilities are still unknown.

Who gets the most out of this banner

  • New players. Any five-star can carry you through Mondstadt, Liyue, and beyond. If you are just starting out, Ineffa will give your account an immediate power spike no matter what her kit looks like.
  • Midgame players with roster gaps. If you lack a strong damage dealer or a versatile support, Ineffa could plug that hole — but you will want to wait for her kit reveal before committing.
  • Collectors. If your goal is to own every character, this is your only shot for now. Just know that limited banners are expensive, and you may need to grind hard to hit pity.
  • Min-spenders and free-to-play players. Check your pity count first. If you are at zero pity and not guaranteed, pulling for an unknown kit is a gamble. Calculate how many wishes you can actually afford before the banner ends.

When you should skip

If your roster already covers the role Ineffa is likely to fill — particularly if that role is a healer or support — skipping is the safe call. Future banners will bring characters with confirmed kits and known team synergy. Rumors about upcoming characters are floating around, but nothing is official.

Low on Primogems? It is almost always smarter to save for a character you know you need rather than gamble on an unknown. The same logic applies to weapon banners: if you are chasing a specific five-star weapon, hold your wishes for a banner where that weapon is featured.

How to prepare if you plan to pull

  • Start saving now. Daily commissions, events, and the Battle Pass are your main sources of Primogems. Every wish counts.
  • Check your pity. Open the wish history and see exactly where you stand. If you are close to soft pity, the decision gets easier.
  • Wait on ascension materials. Nobody knows what Ineffa needs yet. Once HoYoverse releases that information, you can start farming. For now, the best move is to stockpile general resources like Mora and EXP books.
  • Think about team synergy. Even without knowing her kit, you can guess at her element and weapon type from official art. Consider which of your existing characters might pair well and which might overlap.

What the community knows — and doesn’t

Genshin Impact’s official social media channels have teased Ineffa with that one line about cooking. No gameplay trailers, no ability descriptions, no splash art animations. The community is speculating wildly, but there is nothing concrete to work with yet. For now, the only real source of truth is the official announcement.

The Astral Actuation banner goes live on September 1, 2024 at server time. That gives players a few days to decide. If you are unsure, wait for the inevitable datamines and character demonstrations that will hit within hours of the banner going live. A few hours of patience could save you 90 wishes.
