Your ZZZ 3.2 download starts now — file sizes, maintenance times, and polychrome compensation
If you play Zenless Zone Zero on console, you might want to clear some hard drive space right now. Version 3.2 pre-download is open across every platform, and the Xbox build alone weighs 28 GB. That is the biggest single-patch file size the game has shipped so far.
HoYoverse will take the servers offline on September 9 at 06:00 UTC+8 for roughly five hours of maintenance. Anyone who has reached Inter-Knot Lv. 4 before the shutdown starts will get 300 Polychrome delivered through in-game mail. The claim window runs through the entire version 3.2 cycle, so there is no rush to grab it on day one.
What version 3.2 actually brings
The headline addition is Main Story Season 3 Chapter 3, called Their Secret Histories. That questline continues the Hollows lore and the ongoing faction conflicts. HoYoverse has not published full patch notes yet, so the exact unlock requirements and any new character banners remain unconfirmed. The usual suite of events, quality-of-life fixes, and bug patches will ship alongside the story chapter.
Pre-download by platform
Each device handles the pre-load differently. Here is what to expect on yours.
PC via HoYoPlay
Open the HoYoPlay launcher. A pre-download icon sits next to the start game button. Click it and the files begin transferring in the background while you keep playing. The download is roughly 6 GB.
Mobile on Android and iOS
Launch the game and tap the pre-download resources button in the bottom-right corner. The catch: you cannot play while the download runs, so start it when you have a few minutes to wait. At about 5 GB, a Wi-Fi connection is the safe call.
PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro
The console starts the pre-download automatically after you launch ZZZ, provided you have enough free space. You can keep playing during the transfer. The file sits around 17 GB.
Xbox Series X|S
At 28 GB, this is the largest pre-load of the bunch. It also starts automatically after launching the game, but you can force it from My games and apps, then Manage, then Updates. Playing during the download works fine.
How to update after maintenance ends
Once the servers come back, you will need to update the client to the new build. The steps depend on your platform.
- PC: Close the game, restart the launcher, and select update.
- Android: Follow the pop-up instructions inside the app.
- iOS: Open the App Store and update manually.
- PS5: Highlight the game tile on the home screen, press Options, and pick Check for updates.
- Xbox: Go to My games and apps, then Manage, then Updates, and confirm the update.
What to do before the servers go dark
Maintenance locks you out of the game for about five hours. A few minutes of prep can save you from scrambling afterward.
- Spend any Polychrome or currency you meant to use before the patch lands.
- Finish time-limited events that expire with version 3.2.
- Clear daily commissions and claim all pending rewards.
- Confirm you have enough free storage for the update.
Priorities for day one
When maintenance ends and you log back in, these four steps cover the essentials.
- Open the in-game mail and claim your 300 Polychrome compensation.
- Launch the new story chapter to unlock the fresh content and its rewards.
- Browse the event tab for any limited-time activities that just went live.
- Check the banner lineup and decide where to spend your pulls.
Pre-loading is the single easiest way to skip the download queue on patch day. With file sizes climbing past 28 GB on Xbox and 17 GB on PlayStation, starting the transfer now saves real time. The official patch notes should drop closer to the maintenance window, and we will have full coverage of version 3.2’s content once it is live.
