Hu Tao — DPS
Hu Tao is a Charged Attack-focused DPS who wants enough off-field Hydro to Vaporize every hit.

Weapon Choices
Staff of the Scarlet Sands: with it, Gilded Dreams (4) becomes competitive with Crimson Witch of Flames (4) as her best set.
Ballad of the Fjords / Lithic Spear (4 stacks): at R5, both beat Staff of the Scarlet Sands.
Primordial Jade Winged-Spear: outdamages R1 Dragon's Bane and Deathmatch when fully stacked, but holding stacks is unrealistic, so it's less consistent.
Deathmatch: beats Dragon's Bane when not triggering Vaporize.
Blackcliff Pole: despite the CRIT DMG substat, at 1 stack it only slightly beats R5 White Tassel; don't buy it for her.
White Tassel: favors N2C over N1C.

Artifact Sets
Shimenawa's Reminiscence (4): more Normal Attack and Charged Attack damage than Crimson Witch of Flames (4), but lower Burst damage cuts AoE; without Burst you risk dying unless a healer is present.
Gilded Dreams (4): at 3 EM stacks, matches Crimson Witch of Flames (4) when no other EM source exists.
Marechaussee Hunter (4): best set when 3 stacks are reliable, typically via Furina or a slow healer like Xianyun or Chevreuse.

Substat Priority
Because most damage Vaporizes, Elemental Mastery is valuable. Below 100 total EM (counting Sucrose share, Instructor (4), etc.), EM substats outrank CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG.
