Version 3.0 is shaping up to be Zenless Zone Zero’s biggest update yet. HoYoverse has revealed three new fighters headed to New Eridu, along with an entirely new city to explore. One of those characters might be free to claim, which would be a big deal for players who avoid spending on banners.

Roscaelifer: a new city described as a celestial nexus
The biggest headline in version 3.0 is Roscaelifer, a new city that the developers describe as a ‘Celestial Nexus.’ It promises fresh environments, new culture, and likely gameplay systems that differ from what players have seen in the existing Hollows and districts.
Three new agents, one big question mark
The three characters teased are Norma, Velina, and Pyrois. Two are S-rank units that will require serious Polychrome savings. The third is an A-rank who might be handed out for free. Here is a quick reference:

Her Fire element suggests she could work well alongside Fire Attackers or Anomaly units who can trigger extra reactions. Details on her full kit remain unconfirmed until the special program.
Velina: a wind anomaly agent with thiren traits
Velina is an S-rank Wind Anomaly Agent. Her silver hair and Thiren features make her easy to spot in the teaser art. Anomaly characters stack elemental debuffs on enemies, and Wind has not yet had a dedicated Anomaly specialist at S-rank rarity. That alone could open new team compositions that do not currently exist in the meta. Players who enjoy status-effect gameplay will want to keep an eye on her.
Pyrois: the ether attacker who might be free
Pyrois is listed as an A-rank Ether Attack Agent. That is not the interesting part. Rumors circulating around the teaser suggest he could be free to claim, and that his kit might punch above the typical A-rank ceiling. If true, free-to-play players just got a major reason to save their resources. His Ether element and mechanical design point toward a damage dealer who could fit into several team arrangements. None of this is confirmed yet, so treat the free-to-claim rumor with caution.
Agent skins spotted in splash art
Players who looked closely at the splash art noticed what appear to be alternate outfits. HoYoverse has not confirmed cosmetic customization for agents yet, but the hints are hard to ignore. If skins are coming, they would represent a new way for the game to offer cosmetic variety without requiring players to pull for characters or weapons.
How to approach your pulls
Three new characters in one patch is a lot to budget for. Norma and Velina are both S-rank, which means they will take a heavy pile of Polychrome if you want to secure them. If you need a Fire Stun or a Wind Anomaly for your roster, they are worth targeting. Pyrois is the wild card.
