Welcome to our comprehensive Wuthering Waves Characters Tier List. We rank characters based on abilities, strengths, and overall utility to help you excel in the game.
Explanation
Calcharo
Calcharo stands out as a premier Electro Main-DPS unit, capable of unleashing a substantial amount of Electro damage through both his Skill and Liberation. The introduction of Yinlin has further elevated his potential, providing a formidable sub-DPS that propels him to new heights.
Encore
Encore is an exceptional choice for a Fusion DPS, focusing solely on dealing pure damage without any constraints. Upon entering the Cosmos Rave state, she unleashes an astonishing amount of Fusion DMG. However, her vulnerability during this state, which lacks crowd control, can be a concern if not managed properly, especially considering the limited duration of 10 seconds.
Verina
Verina offers a unique combination of healing and buffs for the entire party, utilizing her comprehensive kit. She also periodically executes coordinated attacks that deal Spectro DMG while healing the active character. Nevertheless, Verina falls short in providing Crit Rate and Crit Damage buffs, a capability that the Shorekeeper possesses.
Jiyan
Jiyan is a highly effective DPS unit, capable of dealing impressive single-target and AoE damage, making him a versatile asset against various enemies. His Ultimate also provides a means of crowd control by grouping smaller enemies. Although Jiyan may not match the clearing speed of top-tier DPS units like Jinhsi, particularly in endgame content, his lack of burst damage is a notable limitation.
Rover-Havoc
Rover (Havoc) is a formidable damage dealer, facilitating easy activation of the Dark Surge state. With high burst damage potential courtesy of Resonance Liberation, his Basic Attack is where he truly excels. Mastering dodging skills is essential to maximize Basic Attack damage during Dark Surge. The unique interaction with Dreamless further enhances Havoc Rover's burst damage, allowing for swift clearance of single and multiple enemies.
Changli
Changli is a powerful main-DPS unit, capable of dealing enormous amounts of Fusion damage with her fully stacked Forte Circuit. She can also self-buff her ATK after using her Ultimate, further increasing her damage output. While Changli can adapt to a sub-DPS role thanks to her Outro Skill, her potential as a main DPS is so significant that utilizing her in any other capacity would be less than ideal.
Mortefi
Mortefi boasts a unique mechanic that enables coordinated Fusion attacks to follow up on enemy engagements, even when he is off-field. This significantly increases his value in fights, especially considering his accessibility as a 4-star unit. His effectiveness is further amplified when the on-field DPS utilizes Heavy Attacks, a common strategy for many DPS characters.
Sanhua
Sanhua is one of the best sub-DPS units, providing Basic Attack DMG Deepen for 14 seconds to the next character to take the field. She also deals considerable damage, relying on the detonation of ice structures using her Heavy Attacks. This dependency, however, can be a limiting factor in her overall performance.
Danjin
Danjin is an excellent DPS option for free-to-play players, capable of dishing out huge amounts of damage as long as her HP-drain mechanic is properly managed. This management can be challenging, especially against tougher enemies, making player skill a crucial factor in her survival and effectiveness.
Jianxin
Jianxin serves as a solid middle ground between being a main and sub-DPS, capable of holding her own as a main-DPS with grouping and AoE damage capabilities. Her Outro Skill also buffs Resonance Liberation DMG, making her a valuable sub-DPS. However, her versatility, similar to Spectro Rover, results in her falling behind characters with more defined roles in the meta.
Rover-Spectro
Rover (Spectro) is a jack-of-all-trades, offering great sub-DPS capabilities through her Outro Skill's time stop feature and glimpses of main-DPS potential with her high-damage Resonance Liberation. Unfortunately, this versatility leads to her being outclassed by characters with more specialized roles, either as pure main-DPS or sub-DPS units.
Aalto
Aalto can be considered a good sub-DPS unit, capable of buffing Aero DMG while dealing a decent amount of damage on his own. However, his capabilities are overshadowed by other sub-DPS units like Mortefi, who can deal damage even when off-field, making Aalto less desirable in comparison.
Yuanwu
Yuanwu is a sub-DPS unit that follows up with coordinated Electro DMG even when off-field, similar to Mortefi. He also has the ability to reduce the enemy's Vibration Strength, but this effect is limited to enemies within the circle of effect, making it easily avoidable by mobile enemies.
Baizhi
Baizhi serves as a pure healer, suitable for use when the Shorekeeper and Verina are not available. She can burst-heal using her Resonance Skill and Liberation, as well as continuously heal and buff the next character for 36 seconds. Unlocking her Inherent Skill 1 also provides ATK boosts to the next on-field DPS. However, her buffs are limited to the next character, not the entire party, which restricts the flow of switching when using Baizhi compared to Verina.
Youhu
Youhu is a healer-support hybrid, capable of providing multiple buffs and effects, from healing to vibration strength depletion efficiency. However, these buffs are obtained through a kit-based RNG system, which is extremely inconsistent and can disrupt team rotations. Her Outro Skill only buffs the incoming resonator's Coordinated Attack, a niche effect that limits her value further, given the scarcity of resonators that can utilize coordinated attacks.
Lumi
Lumi is a sub-DPS unit that provides Resonance Skill DMG Amplification via her Outro Skill, with a straightforward kit and good multipliers for her Forte Circuit and Resonance Liberation. Although her damage falls off during Basic Attacks with her two Light Modes, she can deal decent damage when her Forte Circuit is full. Lumi fills a specific need as a 4-star Resonance Skill Amplification unit, given the limited options available.
Lingyang
Lingyang is currently being outclassed by his standard 5-star peers, particularly those with exceptional AoE damage capabilities. The lack of a dedicated Glacio support further diminishes his effectiveness, as his damage output is subpar compared to other main-DPS units in the game.
Yangyang
Yangyang, as the first free 4-star character, provides decent damage and utility with her Aero grouping. However, she quickly becomes less viable once better sub-DPS units that offer DMG buffs are unlocked, highlighting the need for continuous character progression.
Chixia
Chixia excels as a DPS unit against hordes of enemies due to her mobility and ease of use, allowing her to take on single-target bosses with ease as long as positioning and evasion are managed properly. However, her effectiveness diminishes when facing multiple enemies, as she can be easily mobbed if not carefully controlled.
Taoqi
Taoqi has found a new role as a sub-DPS with the introduction of Jinhsi, providing Resonance Skill amplification and quick-switch damage with her Resonance Liberation. Despite this, her issues with split scaling between her Forte and Shields persist, a problem that could have been mitigated if her scaling were consistent across her kit, potentially making her a great sub-DPS-support hybrid character.
