Case File #adler
B TierAdler Build Guide
Adler supports the team by providing both shields that scale with DEF, and DoT damage that scales on standard damage means. Overall, though, he is placed in B-tier as the damage he offers is lacking compared to other DPS units, and is thus sought out mostly for his shielding.
Strengths
- Provides strong shields that scale with DEF
- Applies Incantation DoT to enemies
- Flexible support for Scorch or Hexed teams
Weaknesses
- Personal damage is low compared to dedicated DPS units
- Shield-only role is outpaced by other supports in higher tiers
Best Arcs
Increases HP by 10%. Strengthens shields by 10% while the wearer's HP is above 50%.
Increases wearer's DEF by 26% for 10s when taking damage. Triggers at most once every 20s.
Grants the wearer 10% ATK, 10% DEF, and 10% HP when the team has at least 3 different Esper Types.
Best Cartridge
Epic (2): DEF +15%. Legendary (4): Increases wearer's shields by 20%.
Best Main Stat: DEF%
- Stacking DEF% improves shields and team survivability; other stats like Incantation DMG or CRIT can boost DoT but reduce survivability.
Module Layout
Required Modules
Bonus: Type III
Total Bonus: +72% DEF
Substat Priority
- Use all Type III modules to activate Kingdom's Guard 4-piece effect and maximize DEF bonus.
Best Teams
Adler serves as a general shield support with DoT capabilities, best paired with a Scorch or Discord setup.
Baicang
Main DPS
Primary damage dealer.
Daffodill
Sub-DPS
Secondary damage and DoT support.
Sakiri
Buffer (Flex)
Default buffer; can be replaced with Haniel for Discord variant.
Adler
Support
Shield and DoT support.
Alternatives
Open with Adler's Skill to shield the team.
Swap to Sakiri/Haniel to apply buffs.
Bring in Daffodill for sub-DPS and DoT.
Use Baicang as main DPS to trigger Scorch/Discord effects.
If facing a lone enemy, use Adler's Ultimate for extra DoT.
- Adler's Incantation DoT supports Scorch; Haniel variant shifts to Discord.
Adler can function in Hexed teams with high Anima and Incantation presence, enabling frequent Hexed procs.
Nanally
Main DPS
Primary damage dealer with Anima.
Jiuyuan
Sub-DPS
Secondary damage and Hexed synergy.
Sakiri
Buffer (Flex)
Buffer; can be swapped if needed.
Adler
Support
Shield and DoT support.
Start with Adler's Skill for shields.
Use Sakiri to buff the team.
Apply DoT and damage with Jiuyuan and Nanally.
Cycle through abilities to trigger Hexed effects.
- Adler's Incantation DoT helps trigger Hexed due to high Anima presence.
Skill Priority
Pristine Reflection (Support Skill)
Provides bonus Incantation damage but offers little else.
Deliverance (Basic Attack)
Basic Attacks are leveled last or ignored since Adler will normally use Skill and Ultimate more often.
Tranquility (Ultimate)
Leveled next for burst damage, amplified against lone enemies like bosses.
Evil's Bane (Skill)
Adler's DoT and shielding are based around this ability, so level this first to max out on both continuous damage and protective shielding.
Awakening Priority
All Forms Are Void
Extends Adler's shield duration to 12s from 8s, improves quality-of-life and is top priority.
Perception
Increases shield strength, making it second priority.
Formation
Absorbs extra damage when shield breaks, giving deceptively more strength; get third.
Discernment
Refunds part of Ultimate cost when casting Ultimate; useful quality-of-life.
Form
Gives slightly more damage on Skill after using Ultimate; useful later.
Sensation
Provides slightly more damage output, but saved for last since Adler is mainly used for shielding.
How to Play
Adler is usually run as the very first unit in a fight, casting his Skill to summon his Shield to defend the team. Then use Ultimate to apply Incantation DoT to opponents, and swap to Sub-DPS or Main DPS to trigger Esper Cycles.
Rotations
- 1 Adler Skill → Swap to Buffer → Swap to Sub-DPS → Swap to DPS → (if enemy alone) Adler Ultimate
Tips
- Ultimate applies a second strike of DoT to lone opponents, making it effective against bosses.
- Team up with Chaos characters for Scorch or Anima characters for Hexed; Scorch is generally better for Adler.
- Use Adler's Skill first then swap off; he doesn't need to stay on field.
