Laevatain sits at the very top of the tier list thanks to huge single-target and wide area damage that lets her clear nearly any content. Her kit needs Heat Infliction to charge up, but the units that supply it are cheap or free, so she performs at her ceiling almost immediately after being pulled.
This endgame hypercarry setup leans fully into damage and Ultimate frequency. Forgeborn Scathe supplies Intellect and Attack while adding basic attack damage during Twilight, and the Hot Work set is triggered by the Combustion her enhanced Smouldering Fire applies, converting it into a wide Heat DMG buff that touches every part of her kit. The single off-piece, Redeemer Armor, trades a set slot for extra Ultimate Gain plus Intellect and Strength, which shortens the wait between Ultimate windows. The result is a build where her basic attacks, Battle Skill and Ultimate all contribute, rather than one skill carrying the whole load. Stat allocation prioritises Intellect and Strength first, then Attack, DMG Bonus, and finally Ultimate Gain to smooth out the rotation.
Insights
Core Mechanics
- Melting Flame stacks are the core resource: a Final Strike performed on an enemy carrying Heat Infliction absorbs it and grants one stack, up to 4.
- Once 4 stacks are banked, Smouldering Fire consumes them for an extra hit with forced Combustion and a large Ultimate Energy refund.
- Only her Ultimate applies Heat Infliction on her own, so most stacks are fed by allies or by her Seethe combo trigger on Combusted or Corroded targets.
- Heat is her damage element, and Scorching Heart converts 4 stacks into a Heat RES shred window.
Scaling
- Scales very hard into the late game: most of her output is concentrated in the Ultimate window and the enhanced Battle Skill, both of which grow heavily with investment.
- Early on she functions fine with a budget weapon and the free Mordvolt Insulation set, so she is usable long before endgame gear is available.
- Team dependency is moderate: she needs a reliable Heat Infliction or Corrosion source to keep stacking, but the enablers are accessible and free-to-play friendly.
Team Role
Laevatain is a carry who occupies the controlled-operator slot for the majority of a fight. Her loop is to have an ally apply Heat Infliction (or trigger Combustion/Corrosion), absorb it with a Final Strike to build Melting Flame, then convert 4 stacks into an enhanced Battle Skill that forces Combustion in a wide area, refunds a big chunk of Ultimate Energy, and pushes her toward Twilight. Because her Ultimate makes her the controlled operator and greatly boosts her basic attacks, she wants to be the character you are actively piloting rather than a background damage dealer. Team building is therefore straightforward: pair her with a Heat Infliction enabler such as Wulfgard or a Corrosion applier, add a sustain or buffer slot, and let her cycle Burst windows. She has no strict positional requirements, but she wants allies who can keep statuses ticking on the enemies she is already attacking so stacks never stall, and she benefits from any teammate who accelerates her Ultimate rotation.

Explanation
Forgeborn Scathe is picked because it feeds both Intellect and Attack, the two attributes that matter most for her damage formula, and its unique effect boosts basic attack damage during the Ultimate window.
Since most of her damage is dealt while Twilight is active, improving basic attacks during that window rounds out her whole kit instead of over-investing in one skill.
Hot Work is the gear answer because her enhanced Battle Skill forcibly applies Combustion, and the set converts that into a big Heat DMG multiplier for her entire kit.
Umbral Torch is the best fallback but noticeably weaker — its Heat DMG stats overlap with the bonuses she already stacks and hit diminishing returns, so it should only be used if Forgeborn Scathe is unavailable.
Fortmaker is the free-to-play substitute from Stock Redistribution, and Wave Tide is a reasonable early-game placeholder.
Notes
- The Hot Work set gives Arts Intensity and, critically, a large Heat DMG buff for 10s whenever the wearer applies Combustion — which her enhanced Smouldering Fire does for free.
- Because Combustion is applied by her own skill, the set bonus is effectively self-triggered on every 4-stack Battle Skill, so uptime is excellent.
- Redeemer Armor is slotted in as an off-piece purely for the Ultimate Gain, letting her reach Twilight more often.
