Ember is a Heat Defender who keeps her squad alive rather than chasing damage. She stacks Knock Down to apply Vulnerability, which physical-focused teams love, and she converts her own Max HP into party-wide shields while her Combo Skill tops up the active operator's HP. Because her support output is tied to HP and Will instead of ATK, she stays useful without heavy offensive investment.
endgamesupportendgamesustainteam_buffphysical_teamshield
This is Ember's dedicated endgame sustain setup. Thunderberge supplies additional shields so that between the weapon, her Talent-granted Protection and her Max-HP-scaled Ultimate, she can absorb punishment almost indefinitely. The Eternal Xiranite gear set is the reason the build is more than pure defense: by applying debuffs through her Battle and Combo Skills, Ember triggers a team-wide damage bonus that physical compositions otherwise cannot get, which turns her from a pure defensive pick into a genuine enabler. The remaining pieces (LYNX gloves and two identical Eternal Xiranite Power Cores) exist to push her treatment output and skill uptime. Stack Medicant, HP Boost and Strength Boost in that order — Medicant and HP both inflate the shield her Ultimate hands out, and Strength raises her base HP pool that those shields are calculated from.

Explanation

Thunderberge is chosen over the alternatives because its shield generation stacks with Ember's existing defensive tools, giving her another layer of survivability every time her Combo Skill fires.
The Eternal Xiranite line is the core of the build: her second Talent marks enemies with a debuff whenever she casts Battle Skill or Combo Skill, and that triggers the set's team-wide damage bonus — something mono-Physical squads normally cannot access.
Former Finery is the recommended fallback for players without Thunderberge, especially since it can come from the New Horizons weapon selector; it trades raw shielding for HP, Will and a small self-heal.
Finishing Call is a decent third option when you want extra HP-treatment effects, and Quencher works if you would rather lean on HP and Will rather than Medicant.
Swap in the alternative weapons whenever you are missing the top pick, but keep the Essence priority aligned with whichever stat the weapon actually scales on.

Notes

  • Thunderberge is the pick because it layers even more shielding on top of Ember's kit after her Combo Skill resolves, making her the hardest target to break.
  • The Eternal Xiranite set turns her debuff application into a squad-wide DMG Dealt buff, which is why she is such a natural fit for physical teams that usually skip this set.
  • LYNX gloves and the two Power Core T1s double down on healing throughput, while the armor's Arts Intensity raises the damage from her Knock Down procs.
  • Essence order matters: Medicant first, then HP Boost, then Strength Boost — everything funnels into bigger shields and better heals.

This is the low-investment version of Ember, aimed at players still progressing through early content. Former Finery is the centerpiece because it is easy to acquire and provides HP, Will and a restoration effect, letting Ember keep the active operator healthy while her Ultimate is still small. The Armored MSGR set supplies Strength — which raises her base HP and therefore her shields — and adds a broad damage-reduction safety net below half health, making her noticeably harder to burst down in story encounters. The Essence priority shifts slightly from the endgame version: Efficacy first to squeeze more value out of the weapon, then HP Boost and Will Boost, since at this stage every point of HP and healing matters more than raw offensive stats. Once you secure Thunderberge and Eternal Xiranite pieces, transition to the endgame build.

Explanation

Former Finery is recommended here because early accounts rarely have Thunderberge, and Former Finery covers the three things Ember wants at low investment: survivability for herself, Will for stronger Combo Skill healing, and a small restoration effect.
Efficacy comes first in the Essence order because it compounds the weapon's own utility, then HP Boost to widen her shield scaling, then Will Boost to improve the healing her Combo Skill provides.
Armored MSGR is the recommended early set because Strength translates into base HP for a Defender, and the sub-50% HP damage reduction gives Ember real staying power in story fights without needing rare drops.
The two Flashlight cores and the jacket/gloves combo are simply the accessible pieces within that set; there is no need to chase mixed pieces before you have access to Eternal Xiranite.
Move to the endgame build once Thunderberge and Eternal Xiranite become available — until then, this setup keeps Ember functional as a budget sustain unit.

Notes

  • Former Finery is the go-to starter Greatsword: it grants HP, Will and a self-heal, all of which keep the squad alive while Ember is still growing.
  • It is also the easiest strong option to obtain, since it appears as a choice in the New Horizons banner weapon selector.
  • The Armored MSGR set leans on Strength for a bigger base HP pool and adds blanket damage reduction once Ember drops under half health.
  • If you already pulled Thunderberge, ignore the swap and go straight to the endgame plan.

Build Insights

Ember occupies the Defender/sustain slot: she is the character you bring when a squad needs to survive rather than race a damage check. Her job is threefold — soak hits, keep the active operator healthy through the automatic Frontline Support trigger, and cover the whole party with Max-HP shields from Re-ignited Oath. On top of that she is a reliable Vulnerability enabler because Forward March applies Knock Down on demand, which physical-damage cores want before their burst windows. She fits best alongside physical carries who already supply their own damage, letting her be the squad's defensive anchor instead of a damage dealer. Because her buffs and shields are team-wide rather than self-only, she scales with the quality of her teammates; in teams that already run the buff-focused gear she adds a redundant layer, so she is most appreciated in compositions that otherwise lack team-wide damage amplification.
Core Mechanics
  • Shield generationRe-ignited Oath slams the ground for Heat damage and hands every teammate a shield scaled off Ember's Max HP, lasting about ten seconds.
  • Knock Down into VulnerabilityForward March slams a fan-shaped area to deal Heat damage and Knock Down, enabling Vulnerability for the rest of the team.
  • Reactive healingFrontline Support fires automatically when the controlled operator is hit, dealing Physical damage plus Knock Down while restoring that operator's HP based on Will.
  • Stagger on retaliation — if Ember absorbs damage mid-cast, her Battle Skill slam lands extra Stagger, so eating a hit during the animation is actually rewarded.
Scaling
  • Strength raises her Max HP, which directly inflates the size of the Ultimate shield — this is the main reason she wants HP-side stats early.
  • Will is the scaling stat for Frontline Support healing, so it becomes more valuable once you are pushing her sustain role in harder content.
  • Her defensive kit does not scale off ATK, so offensive stats are largely wasted on her; the second Talent's ATK buff is a low-priority upgrade.
  • Late game she gains a second layer of value from gear that converts her debuff application into a party damage buff, making her stronger the better her teammates are.

Character Notes

Ember is a Heat Defender built around keeping her team standing. She applies Knock Down with her Battle Skill to set up Vulnerability, automatically triggers a healing slam whenever the controlled operator is struck, and covers the entire party in Max-HP-scaled shields with her Ultimate. Her output is entirely support-oriented — she does not need ATK to function, and her defensive stats do the heavy lifting. This makes her a comfort pick for physical squads that want a damage-amplifying, unkillable frontline anchor rather than another damage dealer.
Playstyle
  • Always keep the controlled operator in the thick of the fight so Frontline Support keeps triggering off incoming attacks.
  • Deliberately eat a hit while casting Forward March — taking damage during the animation adds extra Stagger to the slam.
  • Hold Re-ignited Oath for moments before a big enemy attack so the whole squad gets the Max-HP shield when it matters.
  • Use the Battle Skill's Knock Down to plant Vulnerability before your physical carries commit their burst.
  • Do not build around her Basic Attack — it exists to generate SP and Stagger, not to deal meaningful damage.
Strengths
  • Team-wide shielding from the Ultimate scales off her Max HP, so defensive investment converts directly into party durability.
  • Reliable Vulnerability application through Knock Down makes her a natural partner for physical damage cores.
  • The Combo Skill triggers automatically when the controlled operator is hit, giving her healing without spending active input.
  • Can trigger gear-set team damage buffs through her own debuffs, so she contributes offensively while staying purely defensive in stat allocation.
  • Her Talent grants heavy Protection during her two key skill casts, making her very hard to interrupt or burst down.
Weaknesses
  • She deals essentially no damage herself, so she contributes nothing to damage checks while solo.
  • Her defensive stats (HP, Will, Strength) do not translate into offense, meaning she is a pure enabler.
  • Value is heavily team-dependent — in a squad that already has sustain and buff coverage she adds little.
  • Needs her Combo Skill trigger condition (the controlled operator being hit) to be met, which can be awkward in low-pressure fights.
  • Her second Talent scales off ATK, a stat she does not build, so it is largely dead weight on her.

Team Guide

bestphysical_team
Ember heads this Physical lineup as the sustain anchor, stacking Vulnerability on foes while keeping allies alive with shields and heals. Chen Qianyu acts as the main Vulnerability source, applying two stacks through her Battle and Combo skills, while Pogranichnik adds Breach, restores SP, and amplifies overall team damage. The Endministrator is the designated damage dealer who cashes in the debuffs.
The composition revolves around feeding the Endministrator as many Vulnerable stacks as possible so their Crush payoff lands hard.

Explanation

Ember functions as the team's sustain, granting shields via her Ultimate and healing allies with her Combo Skill.
Chen Qianyu is the primary Vulnerability provider, applying two stacks with her Battle and Combo skills.
Pogranichnik layers Breach, restores SP, and raises the squad's overall damage output.
The Endministrator converts accumulated Vulnerable stacks into heavy burst through Crush.

Strengths

  • Multiple Vulnerability sources let the Endministrator hit very hard.
  • Ember's shields and heals make long fights far safer.
  • Pogranichnik's Breach and SP recovery smooth out rotations and lower downtime.

Weaknesses

  • Requires Ember to actually take hits for her Combo Skill to trigger.
  • Heavily dependent on the Endministrator as the sole damage dealer.
  • Debuff stacking takes setup, so short fights may feel slow.

Rotation

  1. 1Open with the Endministrator's Battle Skill to place a Vulnerability stack.
  2. 2If Ember takes a hit, trigger her Combo Skill to add another Vulnerable stack, then fire Chen Qianyu's Combo Skill.
  3. 3Use Chen Qianyu's Battle Skill for an additional Vulnerable stack.
  4. 4Trigger the Endministrator's Combo Skill to apply Originium Crystals, then use their Ultimate if it is ready.
  5. 5Finish with Pogranichnik's Battle Skill to apply Breach, or the Endministrator's Battle Skill for Crush.
Stack Vulnerability with Endmin, Ember, and Chen, then cash it in with a Breach or Crush finisher.
f2pf2pbeginnerlow_investment
Because Ember is a sustain-focused unit, she slots into almost any squad that needs survivability. Her Ultimate grants shields and her Combo Skill heals allies, giving the team enough durability to grind through drawn-out encounters. Chen Qianyu supplies Vulnerability stacks, the Endministrator carries the damage, and Akekuri rounds things out by refunding SP whenever the enemy is stunned or staggered.
This budget version keeps the same Vulnerability-focused plan while leaning on accessible units, so Ember's job is simply to stack debuffs and mitigate incoming damage.

Explanation

Ember supplies Vulnerability stacks plus damage mitigation, keeping the team steady.
Chen Qianyu adds Vulnerable stacks so the Endministrator has debuffs to consume.
Akekuri restores SP for the squad when the enemy becomes stunned or staggered.
The Endministrator remains the primary burst window, using Crush to capitalize on the setup.

Strengths

  • Uses easy-to-obtain characters, making it friendly to newer players.
  • Ember's shields and healing make the lineup forgiving in tough fights.
  • Vulnerability stacking still delivers strong Endministrator damage.

Weaknesses

  • Needs Ember to be hit in order to trigger her Combo Skill.
  • Damage ceiling is lower than the tuned Physical team without Pogranichnik.
  • Akekuri's SP refund depends on enemies being stunned or staggered.

Rotation

  1. 1Use the Endministrator's Battle Skill to place a Vulnerability stack, then trigger Ember's Combo Skill if she was hit.
  2. 2Fire Chen Qianyu's Combo Skill to add another Vulnerable stack.
  3. 3Follow up with Chen Qianyu's Battle Skill for a second stack.
  4. 4Trigger the Endministrator's Combo Skill to apply Originium Crystals.
  5. 5Use the Endministrator's Ultimate to consume the crystals for extra burst, or use their Battle Skill to refund SP at Potential 1.
  6. 6When the enemy is stunned or staggered, fire Akekuri's Combo Skill to restore some SP.
Set up Vulnerability with Endmin, Ember, and Chen, then refund SP with Akekuri for sustained damage.

Team Insights

Ember is built as a sustain enabler rather than a damage threat. Her kit layers Vulnerability on enemies while her Ultimate hands out shields and her Combo Skill heals the party, so she fits comfortably into nearly any composition that needs extra survivability. She is best paired with a debuff-hungry damage dealer — typically the Endministrator — and a secondary Vulnerability source like Chen Qianyu, since both can stack the debuff that the main DPS then consumes with Crush. Adding a support such as Pogranichnik for Breach and SP recovery or Akekuri for SP refund completes the loop.
Synergy Patterns
  • Ember and Chen Qianyu both apply Vulnerability, giving the main damage dealer plenty of stacks to consume.
  • The Endministrator turns stacked Vulnerable marks into burst via Crush, making her the natural pairing.
  • Pogranichnik contributes Breach, SP recovery, and team damage buffs that improve Ember's setup windows.
  • Akekuri refunds SP when enemies are stunned or staggered, extending the rotation in budget squads.
Tips
  • Ember's Combo Skill only triggers when she is hit, so plan around taking a few blows to gain her Vulnerable stack.
  • Prefer applying Breach in extended fights for its debuff uptime, and Crush in short fights for burst.
  • Save the Endministrator's Ultimate to consume Originium Crystals for a big damage spike.
  • At Potential 1, the Endministrator's Battle Skill can refund SP, which helps sustain the rotation.
