Pearl arrives at a complicated time for Honkai: Star Rail players

September 27, 2026, marks the release of Pearl, the first 5-star character on the Elation path whose primary job is keeping the team alive. For anyone who has tried to run a follow-up attack composition without a dedicated sustain, her arrival solves a real problem. But the timing is what makes this decision difficult. Version 4.7 is confirmed to bring Aha, the Aeon of Elation, and her kit is expected to reshape how the path plays. Players who spend their Stellar Jades on Pearl now might find themselves short when the next patch arrives.

Who Pearl is and what she brings to the roster

Pearl is a 5-star Ice character on the Elation path. Her entire kit is built around follow-up attacks, which sets her apart from the healers players have been forced to borrow from other paths. She does not work as a general-purpose support like Huohuo or Luocha. Her value is tied to how many follow-up attacks her team can generate. The 4.6 livestream on September 20, 2026, will give the first proper look at her gameplay, but the pre-release information already paints a clear picture of her role.

How Pearl keeps her team alive

Pearl’s healing comes from her skill and her ultimate. Both scale with her own actions, and her heals trigger when allies perform follow-up attacks. This creates a feedback loop. The more follow-ups the team lands, the more healing Pearl provides. To keep this loop running without a dedicated battery, she needs between 130 and 140 percent Energy Recharge. The Broken Keel planar set helps with this, providing both ERR and a crit damage buff for the team.

Her skill should be used every turn to keep the team topped off. When skill points are scarce, alternating between skill and basic attacks is possible, but it lowers her healing output. Teams without Tingyun will feel the energy constraints most sharply.

Best team compositions for Pearl

Premium setup

The strongest team for Pearl places her alongside Robin and Aventurine, with a flex slot for a fourth character. Robin provides team-wide buffs and extra opportunities to trigger follow-ups. Aventurine brings shields and his own follow-up attacks, which reduce the burden on Pearl’s healing. The flex position can hold another Elation damage dealer such as Dr. Ratio or a debuffer like Pela.

This composition works because every piece reinforces the others. Robin’s ultimate advances the entire team and boosts damage output. Aventurine’s shields mean Pearl does not need to heal as aggressively. Pearl’s heals, which trigger on ally follow-ups, keep the loop running without costing extra actions.

Budget alternative

For F2P players, a functional team exists using 4-star characters. March 7th in her Imaginary form provides shields and follow-up attacks. Tingyun acts as an energy battery for Pearl’s ultimate. Asta buffs the team’s speed and attack.

Tingyun’s energy funnel keeps Pearl’s ultimate available more often. Asta’s speed buff gives the team more turns, which leads to more follow-up triggers. The tradeoff is that this team requires tighter rotation management and more investment to clear endgame content compared to the premium version.

Build recommendations for Pearl

Pearl’s best light cone is her signature, Colors for Tomorrow. For F2P players, Post-Op Conversation is a strong alternative that does not require spending Stellar Jades on the weapon banner. For more detailed build guides, visit GenshinBuilds.

  • Relic set: Dreamlit Actor 4-piece, which boosts both healing and follow-up synergy.
  • Planar ornament: Broken Keel for Energy Recharge and the team-wide crit damage buff.
  • Main stats: HP percent or Outgoing Healing on the body piece, Speed on boots, HP percent on the orb, and Energy Recharge Rate on the rope.
  • Eidolons: E1 improves energy regeneration. E2 extends the duration of her buffs. Neither is required for baseline performance.

Should you pull for Pearl or save for Aha

Pearl is a specialist. Players who already have a built Elation team with Robin and Aventurine will find her a clear upgrade over using a sustain from another path. Her value drops significantly for players who are saving for Aha in 4.7 or who lack Elation damage dealers.

Pity position matters. Players close to soft pity, around 70 pulls or more, can reasonably pick up Pearl without overcommitting. Those at zero pity face a harder choice. Aha is confirmed for 4.7 and her kit will likely define the Elation meta going forward. If you can only guarantee one character, Aha probably offers more value to your account overall.

As a new 5-star character, Pearl’s first rerun is unlikely before version 4.8 at the earliest. This is unconfirmed information and subject to change. Players who skip her now will likely have to wait several months for another opportunity.
