SHIELD SUPPORT
Stack HP; prioritize HP-scaling polearms like Black Tassel and Tenacity of the Millelith (4) to maximize Zhongli's shield.
On an HP-focused build, casting Elemental Burst is usually a DPS loss due to cast time; use it only for crowd control, not damage.
With Xingqiu and/or Beidou, damage reduction from Xingqiu's Rain Swords (Elemental Skill/Elemental Burst) and Beidou's shield can stack on Zhongli's shield, making it nearly unbreakable.
Main/Sub Stats: Only build CRIT Rate if using Favonius Lance to reliably proc its passive.
Weapons: Favonius Lance over Black Tassel if team needs energy; build CRIT Rate to trigger passive.
Artifact Sets:
• Archaic Petra (4): Better than Tenacity of the Millelith (4) when team lacks ATK scaling or already has another Tenacity of the Millelith holder. Awkward without extending rotations, since Zhongli must pick up the shard.
• Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City (4): Prefer over Archaic Petra with multiple Crystallize-compatible elements or Geo characters wanting DMG%.
• Tenacity of the Millelith (4): Best for shield HP, but inconsistent vs bosses and needs good construct placement; other buffing sets may be better.
• Deepwood Memories (4): Best in Dendro reaction teams (Bloom/Burgeon/Hyperbloom/Spread) so allies can run Gilded Dreams/Flower of Paradise Lost. Keep enemies near pillars for Dendro RES shred uptime; hard without grouping.
• Instructor (4): For heavily reaction-focused teams like Ganyu Melt or Hu Tao Vaporize, maximizing damage at cost of a weaker shield; shield usually still sufficient even with fewer HP substats.
BURST SUPPORT
Zhongli can be a Geo burst damage dealer thanks to 12s Elemental Burst cooldown and 40 energy cost. Elemental Skill Hold shield scales with HP, and Ascension 4 lets Elemental Burst scale with 33% of Max HP, giving both shield and damage. In some teams, low damage investment or tight rotations make bursting a DPS loss.
Weapons: Favonius Lance can beat other options for team damage if particles are valued; build CRIT Rate for passive.
Main Stats: ATK sands deals more damage; HP sands gives more shield HP. Choose HP sands if shield HP is needed.
Artifact Sets:
• Noblesse Oblige (2) + Archaic Petra (2): Beats Emblem of Severed Fate (4) at low Energy Recharge needs.
• Noblesse Oblige (4): Adds team utility on Elemental Burst; use if no one else holds it.
• Tenacity of the Millelith (4): Adds utility when Elemental Skill hits, and gives stronger shields.
